302Powered
Does anyone have a 59/64th drill bit that I could borrow for a few days? I need to drill one hole in alum. with it so I won't be dull the bit. I can't see spending $32 to drill one hole. Thanks -Mike
Tinman
Largest I have here is 3/4. But when I have needed larger in the past I first used a compass to mark the hole, drilled out as large as possible, used a carbide bit to enlarge, and then cleaned up the hole with a small flapper wheel. If you can't find a bit, your welcome to use the above of mine.
302Powered
Thanks, Matt. Do you know if a machine shop might have one that size? -Mike
Tinman
That's an odd size, might be hard to find even at a machine shop. A 15/16" might be easier to locate, just how accurate does the hole need to be?

I would assume that it needs to be that size. -Mike
Tinman
A 15/16 will be fine, it's only 1/64" or 15.6 thousandths larger. The only effect it will have is the male threads will engage just a hair deeper. BTW how thick is the material that you are drilling and tapping? If it is less than 3/16" you should use a weld on bung.
302Powered
It's a little thicker than a 1/4 inch. -Mike
