Lustalbert
2001 Subaru Legacy I have a friend looking at one, and she is wondering about the reliability, fuel economy, known maintanace issues, ect, ect. If you can post up what you know, I would appreciate it. Thanks
Maro
The older legacy motors 98-2000 had head gasket issues. You might want to search around for info on that.... Another common bitch is piston slap when the engine is cold.
Mr.COS
Piston slap can be a problem, but only sometimes. Also listen for wheel bearings, and test it by pushing and pulling on the wheels. Other than that they are great cars. Gas mileage will never be as good at 2WD cars, and they are geared lower than most. 18 - 28 MPG on average.
