Mensan
And fuck the lower intake gaskets. Poor design from the factory, and the low torque settings of the steel bolts in aluminum intake/heads/block is the obvious cause of the leaks the engine is prone to getting. /rant
MrMeanGreen
Correct. Doing anything to the 3.4's upper or lower intake manifolds sucks ass.
grease monkey
it sucks, but it's not really all that bad. theres harder stuff to do out there. and yes the engineers did design it to fail. I guess that theres no money in auctually making a vehicle that is not going to break down at certain mileage intervals.
98fiveseven1647545503
i had over 140k on my old 3.4L and no coolang leaks. I must be the lucky one bitches!
AJ
go out and buy the new fel-pro gaskets, there made of aluminum, also get "form-a-gasket" from napa and put it around the coolant passages to keep them from pitting.
TurboRust
2.5 hrs once you get good at em. I prolly did 50 as a tech at firestone..
Fiji ST
You talking about the famous Dexcool eating the gasket, right? Been there before.
Mensan
I got the new gaskets, but they were [plastic. I definitely used RTV around the passages though. I never, ever want to have to go back in there. This engine used regular coolant, none of that orange shit. I also did a little intake porting while I was in there. Wish I had more time. Dave1647545494
the good old gravy intake job 2.8-3.1-3.4-3.5 it could've been worse you could have had to repair the dohc variety instead
