Science Abuse
I like the mazda6's...i think its gonna be my next car It should be. I love the car, ranks high in every feild. Oh hell. Wait, isnt that the domestic partner's car? No, she's "Casa Grothaus' resident normal person", and she wants to rally. The rally is being held by the NE Ohio SCCA in North East Ohio. http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q=Zoar,+OH NeOhio Region, SCCA presents the: 2006 Johnny Appleseed Rally This year’s Johnny Appleseed Rally will be held on Saturday, October 7 as part of the SCCA Central Division Road Rally Championship. The "Johnny Appleseed" name is a legacy from an SCCA National rally organized by NEOHIO Region in the 1950’s and 1960’s. It occasionally ran as a regional rally in the interim, and reappeared as an SCCA National Touring Rally in 1993. This year’s route will take competitors over approximately 135 miles of rural roads in and around Ohio’s Tuscarawas county. It will wind through hills and valleys, and foliage should be approaching peak coloration. Competitors can expect an absolutely straightforward, gimmick-free time-speed-distance (TSD) road rally. The emphasis will be on precise timing at well-placed controls. A columnar "tulip" route instruction format including mileages for all action points will be used. Redundant, clarifying instructions will be included anywhere that there is any question of route-following ambiguity. Ample transit mileage will be included to allow competitors to traverse sensitive areas without disturbing residents, and enjoy the route. Rally Start/Finish Location: The rally will start and finish at the Zoar Tavern, 162 Main Street (State Route 212), Zoar, Ohio 44697 (Latitude: N40*36.682’, Longitude: W081*25.356’), approximately 3 miles east of I-77 Exit 93. Nearby Lodging: Sleep Inn, 11155 State Route 212, Bolivar, Ohio 44612, Ph. 330-874-3435 (I-77 Exit 93). Tentative Schedule: (All times Eastern Time) Monday, October 2, 2006: 17:00 - "Early" entry cutoff. Saturday, October 7, 2005: 11:00 - 12:45 – Registration. 11:30 - Mini rally school (experienced competitors welcome). 13:31 - Car #1 starts rally 20:30 (approx) - Car #1 finishes. 21:15 - Provisional scores posted (hopefully) 21:30 (approx) - Awards. HotCarl
Wait this is a TSD rally? Aren't those pretty boring? It's not the typical 'wide open throttle through the woods' rally racing that you usually see on tv. I read into it when i had the rabbit thinking it was a speed rally, basically a race with other cars, but all the info and pics i saw were kinda boring. nice scenery and a pleasant drive if you dont have anything better to do with your saturday afternoon though. It aint blazing fast, but it damn sure aint boring. Forone, you're constantly doiing something, these roads arent 315. Some make the Hocking area look like a speedway. They set the target speed at a mere 35mph, if you can hold that for the whole length of these roads you're a damned driving god. Chances are you'll just die.
