The guy who owns the site was on the Blitz this morning and this site is kina cool to get rid of your road rage. You leave nasty messages to the plate you memorize or write down. You can also leave nice comments if you wish. Basically you sign up with your plate and you can view others comments about you since everyone can see your plate everyday when you drive. I registered with the name of my screen name. You do not have to give out any personal info. I have been laughing at some of the comments left on others plates. I didn't have anything about me. Check it out.

Title Drunk or just Stupid?

Plate Ohio

Received 9/11/2006 11:07:33 PM

Vehicle Green Other

Location Grove City, Ohio

Incident I was driving home tonight around 10:30pm or so on I-270 heading south towards exit 2, the Grove City exit, from dropping off my boyfriend at work. I was in the middle lane going 70mph and this green car pulled up next to me lurching a bit to keep my speed and I noticed that they are not passing me. I look to the left and there is a dorky guy hanging out his window making gestures of all sorts and hollering. I tried to ignore them but then I flipped them off while maintaining my speed. They said f-u a bunch of times while lurching forward and then honked quite a few times before speeding off. I am not sure if they were drunk or just stupid but I memorized their license plate because I wanted to report them.

Anthony were you trying to race someone? ;)

About PlateWire

PlateWire was developed by two commuters who shared a grueling HOV carpool from Fairfax to Arlington 5 days a week. For those unfamiliar with 66, it is more like parking lot during rush hour traffic. After coming close to being involved in 5 separate collisions on one faithful ride home from work, we had an idea. With very little capital to get started, we began our task, to make people more accountable for their actions on the roadways in one forum or another. It has become an all too common fact that the only time people straighten up and drive safe is when there is a police car near by; a prime example of a society driven by fear. Adopting that same mentally, PlateWire intends to grow large enough to become a real deterrent to unsafe driving habits. Our goal is to bring awareness to bad drivers so they become aware of the dangers associated with the aggressive driving they have become accustomed to. So join in, vent your rage, and lets all do our part to make the roads safer.

Good day and a thanks to all!

The overwhelming positive response we have received today is absolutely wonderful! We would like to extend our warmest regards to those who have taken the time to visit our site and send us their thoughts.

As you can see we are currently in the midst of upgrading, so please excuse the mess. The site should be up to full functionality before the end of the week.

For those of you who aren't new to the site, we have lots of great new features in store.

We have been working tirelessly to research different mechanisms to further implement and enhance the value of PlateWires' usefulness. Some of the crowd that oppose our website (The minority, our percentage of positive response is well over 90%), claim that there is nothing we can do curb road rage or carelessness. We couldn't disagree more!

We believe that rage and courtesy go hand in hand. If you as a driver are treated rudely by someone, you are more likely to take that frustration out on someone else, especially if you are already experiencing stress, an almost daily fact for many of us. So our basic principle is simple, if we can help people to be more aware of their unsafe habits, become self-accountable for their actions, and then we have made a difference.

Please continue the feedback, we love to hear from you and will do our best to answer everyone. I will return to blogging about our progress on http://BadMark.com

Be safe,

November 20th 2006 Mark Buckman - PlateWire co-founder

Here is one of the coolest things you can do:

MailWire

Send a notification to the registered owner of the plate you wired. A notice will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. This notice will inform the recipient they have been wired, give instructions on how to register and search their plate giving them the opportunity to see the message you have left for them.

Currently avaliable for plates in the following states:

Colorado

Florida

Idaho

Minnesota

Mississippi

Missouri

North Carolina

Ohio

Oregon

South Dakota

Tennessee

Texas

Utah

West Virgina

Wisconsin
