just like hyd hose fittings,(the specail crimp deal) the press collar type shit. i did a ac/heat kit in a buddies studeabaker. i mocked up all the fittings, cut the hoses to lengh, and then double checked the routing and what not, and took them down too napa on feddern, and had them press the fittings for me.and its easyer and cheaper with the kits.

 

Pm on it, ive done it a few times.

hose clamps work on barb fittings, look at the cars from the 60's they came that way.

 

 

High side pressures in current model A/C systems can exceed 300 PSI on hot days on the high side of the system.

Proper crimps as menntioned are the only way to go for a system that will not need constant filling.
