Cougar1647545494
Does anyone know how the headunits that say they are "ipod ready" hook up to the ipod? Do they use an audio jack plug or the usb plug. Technically, if it's just an audio jack you could use any mp3 player. Which is what I'm looking for. CJINOHIO03
Depends on the brand/model some of them have special interfaces for ipods that normally require the interface to control everything from the head unit.
Dr. Apex
My roommate has an Alpine that is ipod capable, the head unit needs to be able to operate something like that, hence the "ipod" capable label. His is an ipod specific plug in.
Nitrousbird
My Premier 980BT has an interface jack on the back (have to purchase the harness seperately). It's supposed to be able to control the IPod from the head unit.
Cougar1647545494
So is there headunits that control mp3 players such as the zune, sansa, zen, etc? I don't like the i-tunes software and the sansa is far superior imo to the nano.
Mensan
My JVC has a 1/4 inch plug on the front; you could plug in anything. We watch movies on my laptop all the time.
Akula
iPod ready means it can communicate with your ipod to present you the albums/playlists etc. You probably still have to buy the cable.
