Miller
Its about the artwork. We wathced Paton and Glory in 8th grade... Paton kicked ass... and had quite a bit of profanity, but it was a great movie about the war and the intelligence end of it... all the recorded battles shown. Very educational. Glory was more of a movie about racism during the civil war, not the last 10min where thousands got blasted to bits trying to take a fort on a beach. It was a very controversal subject being the "n-word" was used SEVERAL times. But you learn something from it. As you "can" from Brokback Mountain. Its not really about homosexuality, its about two best friends who find themselves with feelings for eachother that are new to them and exploring them, and how it effects each of thier worlds. How homosexuality is treated in small rural towns in the western communities. If you think about it, its the same way small southern towns still treat racism and the civil war... its the same message, different context.. rather brilliant. SPLN STOP! ITS HOMOOOOO

virgo420
I think that what was wrong was: 1. The movie - R rated, was shown to elementary school kids 2. The teacher made it a "little secret" thing - closing the door and so on 3. Some fukhead wants to sue for 400 grand for damages to his little girl from watching the movie - WTF is that about?? I also think some of you are somehow scared/intimidated by the gay theme of the movie - WTF is that about?

Because the idea of watching 2 guys in a intamate manor to me is as bad as watching a BBW have sex with a horse. Someone likes that BBW having sex with a horse. But not me. So as allot of people would not want to watch Shistza Films does that make them scared or intimated? No it means they make the choice that they don't wish to watch them. As for the lawsuit I would have done the same damn thing you force me to watch some shit like that. how about someone be forced to sit down and watch linn porn all day. You would be pissed off too. I'm talking about the "LINN" porn. Eels and pooping and all that shit.

Kevin R.
I'd be pissed if someone made my kid watch it. All a 12 year old needs is someone to show them it is "cool" or "okay" to be a homo, or explore being one or whatever happens in the movie. No thanks. Hwilli1647545487
I thought he was saying Big Boned Woman. Anyway, it comes down to the fact that this was shown to a child without parental consent, or permission. It obviously made the girl uncomfortable enough to say something to her parents, and from the sounds of it she was forced to watch it. thorne
What education value could that movie teach that would make it stand out above any other movie thats won awards? What reason could be justfied to show minors a movie with strong sexual overtones. You don't think that would fuck with em?

sol740
Not a smart thing to do. Though I saw a couple rated R movies while in school, so I'm not sure what to think. Maybe permission slips sent home first with an educational explanation for showing such risque material. While including an "opt-out" option for those whose parents may have religious reasons for not wanting their child to view the film in a school setting. TheHaze
If it were shown at my school, the room would burst into laughter throughout the whole movie.
