Train horns

There are a few guys around Naples/Ft. Myers that are selling train horn kits (like what you will find on http://www.hornblasters.com). In fact, one guy is selling a brand new 3-horn kit from HB for $150. Does anyone have a setup on their vehicle in the C'bus area? Any recommendations or thoughts?

I'm thinking about getting a kit for my '82 Chevy, since I know the people selling the kits and they are dirty cheap used. I wouldn't use it all of the time, but (like a N20 kit) I think it might be fun to have and use occasionally.

For $150, I am guessing it is the Horns ONLY. You then need to add in a compressor, pump, lines, fittings and switches.

If it is everything, then I would ASSUME it is junk. Good pumps are more than $150 alone! Also, Tank size DOES matter. The bigger the tank, and faster the pump, the longer, and more frequently you can use them.

If the tank is < 5 Gallons.... you will NOT get long horn blasts... PERIOD!

For $150, the kit I'm looking at includes the tank and compressor. I'm not looking for Loooooong...just a loud, short blast if someone is in front of me or just needs to wake the fuck up.

I dunno, though...another guy is selling a higher-quality kit with a black 4-horn setup for $300. We'll see.

Plus, I also want to turbo the 6.2L diesel. Banks' kit would be about $2k. *Sigh*...projects...

The 4 piece black horn kit is the loudest ones I have herd. I had the 3 chrome ones on my last truck and they were rediculous loud. I ran the tank to around 190 psi from my engine driven. I already had 12 gallons of air for my suspension so it wasn't anything to hook them up. I payed $150 for the horns alone. If you go to some chrome shops they sell the train horn kits for around $120. I have herd about everykit possible and the black ones are by far the best.

here is a link to a compelte kit with good compressor for under 500 http://suicidedoors.com/4-PCTrainHornCompleteKit.php
