Dave1647545494
when I built my buicks I always set it up so that the piston was flush with the top edge of the head gasket to get all the compression out of the motor I could I'm looking for recomendations becuase this is a ford not a buick
Tinman
Generally you are looking for flush with the deck to .010" in the hole.
Clifford Automotive
Generally you are looking for flush with the deck to .010" in the hole. This is correct. Just to add I have seen deck heights off by .035" These were stock block. If your measuring it needs to be measured from the crank center. BTW to answer your question in general the deck height on a 302 is 8.

Guest Removed
hell just decking a stock bottom end will raise compression almost a full point.(most are .016 to .022 in the hole or more) my BB was .031 in the whole.
