MrMeanGreen
XP 32bit maxes the available RAM out at 3.25 GB. I guess that explains why my 4GB isn't showing up as, well, 4GB. Oh well, it still flies
TheHaze
Vista 32bit only recognizes 3.5gb of my ram. Oh well, at least it recognizes my quad core.

TheHaze
wth? why havent they fixed that? I mean, Im only running 2 gigs but damn. Microsoft claims Vista 64bit recognizes up to 256gb of ram. Hmm, if only I could find a motherboard to house that.

gillbot
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1035670 http://members.cox.net/slatteryt/RAM.html Most recommend using 3GB max for optimal performance.
jeffmeden
32 bit = 4GB worth of memory addresses. If you have a swapfile configured, it will eat the top out of this number as it counts as normal ram to the processor. 64 bit = 100 jiggabytes worth of memory addresses, which results in maximum WIN. Nitrousbird
I love Vista, and run it on two machines. No complaints here; processor hog, but doesn't hog memory as badly as I thought it would. With 4GB+, gotta run XP or Vista

gillbot
I've messed with vista a bit, didn't care for it so i'm sticking with XP for now. I may be tempted after the parts needed to run it are dirt cheap and I can try it out.
