Dr. Apex
I didn't like the early cars but as they evolved I grew to like the newer ones. I don't know how well these sold for Dodge but I had always though they didn't change the car enough, it's still very much the same car to me. I thought they should really overhaul it like the was from the C4 generation Vette to the C5. Though it sounds like they had just that in mind in that article but obviously it didn't make it. FourString
That sucks. I have been a fan of the Viper since it came out.
LPFSTheFett
The Viper is really a special car. A person has to want the car so much that they can look past, burning their leg when they get in/out of the car, and being cramped once in it. Then they have to look past paying $20,000 more then a Z06 and have no options what so ever in the process.(no traction control, no navigation, no heated seats, heads up display, power seats, and a radio that sucks ass) Have to understand that once you buy it, if your over 6' tall, you have to buy a seat lowering kit, just so your head doesn't touch the roof while your in it. But to me personally, I was ok with all that because it was a "Viper". Afterall, it was my dream car and I always wanted one. So then I got one and it was a nightmare. The paint quality and build quality are really not up to par to my Z. The dealerships are a bunch of idiots and don't know how to fix problems with it. Mine was in the shop over 70 days for the same two problems, that are still not fixed. When there is a problem, Dodge mandates you jump through hoops to get it fixed. (i.e. they need to take pictures of the warranty items in question to see how much Dodge will pay to fix it) It's retarded. It's really no wonder Dodge isn't going to make the Viper anymore. Don't take care of people spending $90k on a car and they wont buy another one, or any other Dodge products for that matter. I was going to buy that Challenger when it came out, F that. All that said, I will probably still buy another Viper at some point, but probably the last production year and just leave it stock. I love the looks of the Viper, just man... wtf
Rally Pat
The only time I ever liked the Viper was when the TV show Viper was on. I am glad the car is leaving, kind of tired of looking at it.
ImUrOBGYN
That's too bad. I wonder if they'll have a 'supercar' replacement.

LPFSTheFett
I doubt it. I know I've said it before but, the car scene is dying. It's been on a steady decline since 97 when I started going out and I know it was on the decline prior to me going out. The sport is expensive and a lot of people like to go to the track, but don't because lines are too long, get too much crap about not having enough safety equipment etc.. Taking it to the streets is really risky and most aren't willing to take that chance, very understandably. Plus the longer your in the sport, you grow to realize that shit breaks all the time. The faster you go the more you break and it gets discouraging.
Turbotrio
I doubt it. I know I've said it before but, the car scene is dying. I dont think that has anything to do with Viper being discontinued or not. Gas prices and Chryslers financial standing maybe, but not demand. If that were the case other companies wouldnt be continuing to develop high-end sports / super-cars like the GTR, the ZR1, and upcoming lexus "Supercar". I read somewhere that Chrysler is axing 15 models and Im pretty sure the other 14 arent exactly of the "Performance" variety. The Viper just happens to be a casualty of a company not doing so well right now IMO. Jeff

I'm not going to be able to autoX the vett this year. Going to have to come up with something, that's for sure!
Turbotrio
Yeah I know. I'm not going to be able to autoX the vett this year. You should try it once just for the hell of it at like 10psi. I wonder if the tires would ever stop spinning around the entire course lol. That would be a very cool video Jeff
MrMeanGreen
Mopar got a new CEO from Toyota, and the guy came in with guns blazing. He killed a decent amount of the product lineup and is making changes everywhere. I'd like to see you road race the Vette, Jason. Jeff, I just wanna hump you. That would make sense, since Toyota doesn't seem to believe in fast cars anymore, and hasn't for years.

Dr. Apex
Jason, do it anyway, at the very least you will be forced to learn very delicate throttle control!! Is there any type of "sports car" that dodge is developing other than the Challenger?? Are they going to build that "Demon" that would be it's Miata fighter?? Either way like someone mentioned a car that would be a base Vette fighter would be a good idea for Dodge.
Flyin Miata
It was a cool looking and original car when it came out, but for me it lost it's exotic appeal as time went on and more and more people bought them. Frankly I think the original model was the most interesting looking one of them all.
kirks5oh
never was a huge fan of the vipers, but this is not good for anybody who loves cars in general
Science Abuse
The Viper was nothing but pride, it didn't make money. Venture Capital firms have no need for that, so I'm not surprised. Soon Chrysler will be making nothing but Neons, maybe PT Cruisers.
sgtschulze
Barrett-Jackson guys just jumped for joy. Every Viper will now be worth more than gold. The Viper is an iconic car. Not too many domestic icons left.
caseyctsv
The ones who are saying "good riddance" don't get it. Competition is good for all of us. Do you really think Chevy would bring out a 600+ HP without a 600+ hp Viper or a Ford GT for that matter? This is not good news.
