I can not stop looking at the APS Twin Turbo Kits

I have customer of mine with a G8 on order and is going to be installing one of these kits. It looks like a quality piece. I know IPS has experience with these kits. I hope to get the opportunity to see one of these kits in person. I know I need another twin turbo car like a bullet in the head. But it sure would be nice to have another 500 rwhp car that weighs 300 pounds less then the mustang. Worse case scenrio I wait to see how the G8 turns out. Anymore thoughts or opinions on these kits? If you were not going to get APS, what would you go with?

Give me a free dyno pull and I'll bring the Z06 down once it's complete and you can see one in action. jk :D

IPS is in the process of building Mark's Z06 and mine with APS Twin Turbos. As soon as it's done I'll bring it down for you to check it out. I'd love to make it to your dyno day, but doubt it will be ready by then. Have another week for the Motors to come in, then they'll need to install everything, and I mean everything. If it's a moving part, they are replacing it. I'm hoping for 1100+rwhp on full boost, but will cruise around at 750-800 or so and plan on racing at around 1000rwhp at the strip. Time will tell.

We took one of the kits out of 4 HUGE boxes to check them out and it is certainly a quality kit. It's a complete kit with all new exhaust, Fuel System, etc.. I really couldn't be happier with the quality of it.

What turbos are they giving you?

APS offers GT35R's with their kits? I was under the impression there were much smaller turbos than that.

Brian, I have no experience with any turbo kits for Corvettes, however I have done a little research on them(from when I was looking at getting a used C5 Z). I liked this kit.

Here is the vid for the kit in question.

Brian no matter what kit you decide you want, get it!

Good luck with the build.

Cars run their best when they are stock. You already got a race car, why make another. I would put that money into the stang to make any improvements, if any, to make it go faster.

this is actually a good point. the more you do to a car, the less fun it gets to drive, and the higher the chances of being left stranded are.

I agree. I love my GTP and it's been good in the hands of my dad who drives it daily now, but the GXP has been great and pretty quick from day one.

When you can get about the same performance with just one of these

For less of this...

To each his own though and turbo’s do have some great benefits over supercharging. Comes down to, how big is your wallet?

Oh the age old question Turbo or Supercharger. Turbo's make more power with less boost, on big displacement motors they also make boost sooner which means they make MUCH more HP and Torque over the entire RPM band.

Before I decided on going with the APS TT, I was going to go with a F1 system, and after looking into it, it doesn't cost any more to do twin turbos. Then on top of that my car will be much quiter driving around. I couldn't handle the bad supercharger whine that you get with the F1 head unit.

Example A:

I got my APS kit for $12,800. To make the F1 you have listed there to work on a C6, Your going to spend $6800 for the F1 tuner kit, $2500 for a fuel system support it(was going to use the aps dual pump kit for 1k+hp), $1500 Headers, $1500 Full Exhaust, $1000 for 8 rib pulley setup, $500 seperate Oil Cooler. Then the supercharger is much more prone to heat soak, belt slip etc..

Granted if you were going to leave the car with a stock bottom end, then you can pick up a standard Procharger kit for $6800 vs the APS for $12,800 and save $6000 and come out with close to the same peak HP. Still even then the APS kit will still outperform the procharger. However that's on the LS7, on his LS6 I'd guess the Procharger kit would be $5500 and the APS kit $8000.
