Tindall2006

As the title says, this is my project TSI talon. I bought the car for 800 bucks in december with the motor in peices, and started work on it. I have had this posted a few other places and figured I would post the progess here. Let me know what you think.

Here she is, a real beauty

Of course the guy that had it, put everything in 3 diffrent boxes, and didn't really lable any of the bolts... so i spend about half a day organizing.

Basiclly put bolts where they go, or in a baggie, I also has a little tackle box I put alot of stuff in.

Also started to work on the head

I am debating right now if i like the color or not, I kind of do and most likley will get some touch up work done later down the road. I also need to see if the transfer case recall has been done yet too, and get ready to change all the fluids before i start her up.

At first, i didn't like the color, it is a dark purple light purple, but it really has grown on me, and is probably going to stay this way. This is the first forum I haven't been flammed on lol.

Hopefully I will make it out to a cruise in soon, or maybe take it to the track in May.

Right now, my plans are to make it a clean, solid running car. After that, I am not sure.

After that is done, I plan on starting my way down the upgrade path. Exhaust, intake, boost controler and go from there... If everything works out I would like it to be a 13 second car by may... I think my ultimate goal is a low 12 street driven car, atleast for now.

I really would like to do a dyno run, and get stock numbers and keep dynoing as I add parts, I think that would be fun!

Yes, right now looking in about 3 weeks for a dyno run, I just wish that it wasn't so expensive to dyno run. Trip to columbus plus the money for dyno, yes i'm cheap lol. Also, anyone know of a good AWD dyno, or should I use the local guy here on the forums and just drop the driveshaft? At the same time I am afraid of what they are going to be lol...

So, wanting an oppinion, sure, i could poney up the 500 plus for a 3" turbo back exhaust, but right now I am thinking about just running a 3 inch downpipe to the stock catback and putting a exhaust cutout on the downpipe. When I want the extra flow for power, flip the switch, and when I am crusing around, I still have a stock sounding exhaust. I have already priced it out and it will cost around 300 or less. oppinions?

Keep looking your bound to find a 1g AWD 3in exhaust for less than 500. When you do it will be far less expensive to go that route than a cutout. Cutout's are cool and all but you can always finda cheaper deal with an exhaust.

If this isnt your daily you can always take it to a muffler shop or someone who's a competant welder and fab up a side exit exhaust. cut off the rest but leave the muffler and the tip out the back. This would definitly be the cheapest route.

Yeah, your right about finding a better deal, I would like to keep this car as quiet as possible though, because it may become my DD... Not sure how quiet a 3" would be... Though, if I get my hands on a downpipe (around 150 on ebay) and buy this and weld it on.

I could get the job done, and still use my stock catback. I would just have to remember to keep a pair of leather gloves in the car to pull it off, which I have a pair of old fire fighter gloves that would work perfectly for this job.

I'm torn, go the cheap way, and get er done, or spend alot of money for some shiny tubing...

I also need to get a CD player in this car too lol...
