carl1647545492
I have been thinking about installing a projector in my basement, watching movies and sports, with a 100 inches diagonal screen would be killer. I,m a bit put off because I do not know what I,m doing but would like to tackle it as I finished my basement and wiring part of the install should be pretty easy at least, waddia think? Rally Pat
Really all you need is a wall that is true white, but the best thing to do is buy screen fabric on the internet somewhere and staple it to a custom wood frame, which you would attach your wall. The placement of the projector is the easy part.

If so, then its a bit pricier but still not bad. If you're looking for cheap, this projector rocks: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2881686&Sku=V18-5110 If you're looking for super highend: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3655497&CatId=1755
Clifford Automotive
I would highly recommend getting the fabric or a screen. Ive done 2 of these install in Tartan Fields and the Screen is so much nicer. This does account for partly being the projector but you can watch this thing with broad day light shining on it. I though about going this route my self for a place for the kids to hide in the basement. The number one reason being it saves a lot of room. And its up on the ceiling where there really cant mess with it.
Clifford Automotive
Bens got it right on that second projector. I will tell you too, if you go cheap when you run across someone with another projector you will be pissed in the quality difference youll see if they went a little higher end. Projectors arent like 42'' LCD's
carl1647545492
Yep definitely 1080p, the projectors are a lot cheaper than 1 year ago and I would get a decent one and do it right, probably need a receiver too with hdmi, this pj is getting good reviews over on the HD forums and comes with hdmi cable http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11253200&search=projector&Mo=85&cm_r

black00ws6
My set up http://cimellc.org/ebay/theater1.jpg Bought the screen material on ebay, wood and brackets from home depot. Total cost was around 60 dollars for everything.

mrblunt
TURBOED made a good choice on the AVSforum, that place is probably the best source of knowledge on the net for AV. I would highly recommend the Panasonic your looking at. Panasonic makes some awesome HD projectors. My buddy has a 720p older model and it looks spectacular shining on a piece of drywall. I'd go with a screen myself. For 150-250 bucks you can pick up a pretty nice one. A DIY setup like John made would be a good alternative if you've got the time and want to save some dough. If you've got a lot of time on your hands check this out- http://anandtech.com/weblog/showpost.aspx?i=
carl1647545492
^ Nice ceiling install, next house I will build something like that frame in a dedicated screen wall riser seats the works. There is about 90 pages on the Panasonic to wade through on the AVS forum its is a good pj that has some QC issues, the Epsom 1080 ub has great blacks and their QC is good,C.
