Akula
I am trying to build a machine that can run a base os and two other os's.
Rally Pat
My laptop has XP and runs Ubuntu under VMWare. Because of the way VMware distributes processing powerv and system resources, the system does not have low performance while running both. The laptop is a 1.7ghz Athlon X2 with 2 gigs of ram
Akula
I am running Mac OSX, and Windows 2003 Enterprise, I need to also start CentOS too. Possible?
Rally Pat
It is possible, but it becomes easier if you have multiple processors. Especially 4 or more. VMWare can take advantage of different cores.
Mr. Jones
It's quite possible. I have run a very small (think dsm) linux distro, Xp and vista all under VM. Its crazy important to install the VMWARE Tools pack once the client OS is fully installed. And be careful only to allocate as much ram as you need for that client. Once the host system gets hosed, they all go down like a sinking ship. For a real kick, try ESXi
thorne
ESX is nice, VMWARE-SERVER is free also. At work I run VMware Fusion inside of it I run a image of my work laptop. I also have 2 linux installs for testing. Vmware rocks.
Akula
I do full versions of software, I don't have to pay for any of it. So, I can run more than one VM instance given enough processor and ram. Thanks guys.
