CST zero-1 Vs. MB Battle

Oh man, evo guys the world over have a new sherrif in town.

After a drunken debate with a well-respected evo owner-builder at a bar in the flats. It was decided (in his opinion..not mine) that the term "GTR Fitment" referred to a wheel with a sunken face.

"Sunken face" is the proper term for a wheel that has a concaved wheel center. Examples of a sunken face wheel would be a low offset (wide) Te37.

From my experience and conquest for proof, "GTR Fitment" refers to a wheel that is 17 or 18 inches tall, by nine inches wide, with a +20 offset (for the poin-dexters, it can be anywhere near that, doesn't have to be exact)... the term recieved its definition from the likelyhood that the size noted as "GTR fitment" was oftentimes used on a skyline chassis.

This evo-owner continued to tell me that "GTR fitment" was about the face of a wheel etc etc... and it then worked itself into a crazy drunken debate about wheel construction, barrel types, casting construction and their differences...... and irish whiskey.

Either way, aside from the fact that i will school anyone in wheel knowledge.... i caught wind of a newly distributed wheel by MB that just hit the market.

the wheel is called the MB Battle. it comes in attractive sizes and are decently light-weight. MB has a habit of buying up bulk orders of pre-existant wqheels and reselling them under their own name (Atech, etc)

MB recently bought up a bunch of CST zero-1's and is now making them their own. you can look at both wheels and they will be identical. The cool thing is... FOR NOW, the MB's are noted as being about 60% of the price of their counterpart (CST zero-1)...

Check it out for yourself. they are about 260.00 a piece at RHDjapan.com... buy them locally at Discount tire for less...

Disclaimer - these wheels are nothing new, i'm not acting like i'm finding them for the first time, so please no "oh dude, those are so last year"... i'm simply finding them for less and for "local"

you are welcome

buy them now before the price hikes.

23lbs for a 17x9 (not shabby)

and i quote

"i have real CST's on my s14, and my buddy just got in a set of the MB and they look identical except for the center caps, which i think it looks better without the center cap. but point being, there are noooo difference in rims, they weigh the same, and quality looks and feels the same."

Are you insinuating that a business owner told you that because he wanted to dispell all myths

or do you think he maybe did it because he is the (as you said) main importer of the same wheel that costs almost twice as much... to protect his "keep"....

I'd tell you that too...

Hey man, i am completely unbiased anyways. I wouldn't be caught dead on gravity cast wheels... /elite

I just got back from discount tires on sawmill with the mb in stock and looked at them in person, they are not the same wheels , they are closed @ 3 due to good friday, look at the wheels in person, the casting is different and the concave face is way diff the mb is not as concave and has a huge block on the backspacing on the wheel. cst do not. I can care less about pricing I seen this post and was kinda pissed that I could of picked them up for this cheap, but when I went to sawmill to look at the wheels, they are similar but not the same, they did not have the 17.9 in stock just the 18's but same offset ect, they have a smaller dish with a big backspacing block on the rim. Alot of the guys are buying the cst caps and selling them on zilvia this way, even the color of the rims where a bit different. but I do agree the price of the rims is crazy for the offset and price, way better then shitty ass sportmax or played out 5ziggen rims.
