Guest cougarpimp916 Posted March 22, 2008 Report Share Posted March 22, 2008 i'm getting into the auto-x thing this year but the cinci scca puts on an event once a month if that so i'm trying to see if the columbus area is good. anyone here have experience w/ this group? how are the courses? how are the people? are there usually a lot of people coming to the events? really i'm just trying to find anyone w/ some knowledge of the mid-ohio scca to see if it's worth the drive up to compete. Dr. Apex Posted March 23, 2008 Report Share Posted March 23, 2008 <---Ahem...... We have a good region here, a couple of very good lots to run on and some great people to compete with. I know of 1 or 2 people in STS and it has been probably the toughest and most contested classes in the past couple years with lots of great competitors. I believe STS averages 10+ cars per event here. Courses average 40-60 seconds with some at Cooper Stadium over a minute on occasion. We probably average 80-120+ drivers per event but they run things usually quite well and they strive for 5-6 runs per event but it doesn't always happen. It's well worth the trip. Dr. Apex Posted March 23, 2008 Report Share Posted March 23, 2008 I should be out there most events as usual, I just need to get some new tires for the Laser as the current ones especially on the rear are quite old and dry rotted and have no grip anymore, the damn thing was ass happy as hell at the last event last year. AJ Posted March 23, 2008 Report Share Posted March 23, 2008 my dad used to get rental cars to teach police driving in. death toll: 5 tow truck bills 1 burnt to the ground 2 engine fires 200 belted tires 13 flat tires from being worn through 16 melted hub caps 3 tosted transmissions uncountable warped rotors not too offten can you look through the wheel of a crown vic and see a glowing rotor lol. additional coverage is worth it, when we had the fire and mechanical failures we called them and said we had car trouble and they brought us out another car haha. I need high dollar tires to compete even in F-Stock so I won't be seriously trying to win. I actually have more fun working the course where I get to see corvettes run up close.
