blue98ls1 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Share Posted April 29, 2008 I just aquired another 92 Subaru SVX from a friend. It has a Legacy GT transmission installed with a shift kit. The car has 1st & 2ed gear, and if you use the "manual mode" to shift the car when putting it in 3ed it just revs the engine. But if you leave the car in drive and let the car shift 1st-2ed when it gets to 3ed it will rev the engine until roughly 4500rpms and then it acts like it "catches" and trys to drive in 3ed. Someone had adjusted the 3ed gear brake band due to some problem with the shift kit, I can't remember exactly what and right after they did that the previous owner started having some flaring issues going into 3ed then it just quit working altogether. I'm wondering if this is something that could possibly be fixed by attempting to adjust the 3ed gear brake band again by someone who knows how to do it? Or if the trans is probably shot now?
