cbustuner
Does trails require dry cell batteries that have been moved to the trunk to be in a sealed and vented box? I have heard people say yes and no.I asked some of the salesmen at jegs and they couldnt give me a straight answer either.I have a custom bracket now thats bolted to the car so it's 100% secure and not going anywhere running a 12 pound oddessy pc680
ODoyle
I think it has to be in a box..At least thats what the tech guy told me. A marine battery box from AAP would work is what he said IIRC
Guest Removed
sealed and vented box nhra approved. the blue moroso one and the one jegs brand one are the only approved ones i know of. but the dry cell batterys shouldnt need a box. i would have to check the rule book when i get home. cbustuner
I think im just going to buy the jegs poly box to be sure.I have a copy of the sport compact nhra rule book pdf file and there isn't anything about it other then just saying if your battery is relocated you need a sealed vented aproved box and kill switch . I read somewhere that someone actually sent some nhra tech an email asking and they said that you still need one, because not all dry cell batteries are equal, and they don't want to be responsible for any accidents or arguments. Some people call optima batteries dry cells and they aren't. DaddyBuiltRacing
Oh and you also need a killswitch mounted on the outside of your car. I have my battery in the trunk and cant pass tech because of this, my buddy is a bracket racer and has his in the trunk, they give him shit all the time for not having a kill switch. DaddyBuiltRacing
How bad was that to wire up?
cbustuner
easy, just go to jegs and get these part numbers http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/10305/10002/-1 http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/10306/10002/-1 http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/10512/10002/-1 (you could probably just get this at home depot or radioshack) and follow this diagram or similar (if your working on a honda just undo the big single white wire that attaches to the alt with a nut and replace it with the jegs kit and run it as shown) http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f118/cbuscivictuner/Powerfordummies.jpg

cbustuner
Did the car come from the factory like that?If that's the way the car originally came then it doesn't matter.
