Wonderboy
Im actually a big fan of the sks. Its very affordable and shoots pretty damn well. I just shot my buddys 2 weeks ago. And although its not mine, my favorite gun at this particular moment is my buddies navy seal issued mp5. He has his class 3 so its fully auto and legit. We timed it the other day... it shot 30 rounds in 2 seconds! It is amazing. It just sucks that I can never have one, not only am I not class 3 but the fuckin thing cost like $26,000. kenny
"Class 3" doesn't exist. All you need is to pay the $200, get someone to sign for you and pass the backround check.
Wonderboy
You have to have it to buy, sell, trade fully automatic and suppressors. Or something like that. I dont remember what he said exactly it was something with a 3 and his family deals firearms so i dunno. I know there is a $200 tax on fully auto seers but i thought you had to have certain license for fully auto?
kenny
No.
Wonderboy
Oh, well I guess I stand corrected. But Im still pretty sure that owning a fully auto weapon is still not as easy as $200 and a background check. Im almost positive that there is more to it than that or else alot more people would have them. And either way, that gun is fuckin sick. You were probably looking at M1 Garands. Yours is an M1 carbine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_carbine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Garand_rifle

More people don't have full auto because it costs too fucking much. I could buy a brand new car for the price of a REAL Thompson. The license for dealing in weapons is called an FFL, and there are different levels for normal weapons, for class 3 weapons such as full auto, and a different one for manufacturing. For an individual to purchase a class 3 weapon, its exactly as Kenny said. Get signed off by your chief LEO (such as a Sheriff), pass a background check and pay your $200. Dave1647545494
if you have a real M1 and not an Iver Johnson mail order copy of one (still a nice shooting gun) put it away and stop shooting it. Worth thousands in that condition
kenny
So then could I convert my ak to full auto and then just pay $200 and be ok? No. The reason machine guns are so expensive is because pussy hurt liberal hippies won't allow them to be manufactured anymore. If you were to convert your AK to full auto by adding the sear and got caught you would do some serious time in a federal pound me in the ass prison. Not to mention that your AK is probably a stamped receiver instead of milled...
RedRocket1647545505
So then could I convert my ak to full auto and then just pay $200 and be ok? No. Civilians are limited to purchase only pre-May '86 NFA weapons. That's the reason that buying one is so expensive, because there's a finite amount that are available for purchase. Post-May '86 'machine guns' are limited to LEOs and military only. As Kenny said; you can't just convert yours. It's a felony. As was also repeated a couple times, all you need to purchase an NFA item is a background check, CLEO sign-off, $200 stamp tax, and time. Oh, and lots of $$$$ for the price that stuff goes for. kenny
You can still get some "low end" machine guns for under $5k...

Scotty2Hotty
I'd post my collection, but can't from my cell. About "Class 3" weapons, personally not worth the hastle. One reason I stayed part time Army is that reason. I still get plenty of trigger time with my baby the M240B, M2 .50 cal, and last the M249 SAW. Why spend my own money on ammo, licenses, weapons on top of having the ATF on my ass like white on rice. Granted it would be fun to own fully automatic weapons, but I can do just fine with semi-auto double taps.

M1 Garand = 30-06 caliber, 8 shot box style mag M1 Carbine = .30cal, 15-20 round detatchable mag. M1A = 7.62X51mm NATO (.308) aka M14 rifle, with detatchable 20 round mag, based off M1 Garand. Aka M24 sniper platform.

kenny
Had a chance to try out an Accutrigger yet? Quite a few. I bought mine before Accutriggers existed - I have a Rifle Basix sear in mine which is just about the same. 10oz pull, no creep.
