Akula
I have been thinking about something like this. http://www.rotaryforum.com/classifieds/images/ads/233_1.JPG Perhaps the newer model. http://www.americanautogyro.com/
Scotty2Hotty
I saw this a while ago at an airshow: Based off the Hughes 500MD or the OH-6 "Little Bird" http://www.3cats.com/helicopter/M5T01.jpg Called the mini 500 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhOCdK8SOm8&feature=related
Akula
Autogyro means the big thing on top spins freely, not driven.
Skinner
Autogyro means the big thing on top spins freely, not driven. big thing on top is that the "technical" term.
Akula
It is a distinction, if the big thing on top stops spinning it doesn't matter how technical you get.
KentStateTsi
auto gyros scare the hell out of me. I myself have been looking into the Revolution Mini 500.(used to be piston driven, now they have a turbine package) but Mosquito Aviation in europe has a few models out that are more impressive and there are dealers stateside. If the heli falls through I will get my BD5J someday.

ImUrOBGYN
If it ain't got wings, I ain't flyin' in it. At least you glide to safety! I admit, I'd fly the hell out of anything, including the gyro, if had one.

Actually the glide ratio on an autogyro is about 5X a fixed wing powered aircraft.
zeitgeist57
Actually the glide ratio on an autogyro is about 5X a fixed wing powered aircraft. +1. If a helicopter loses power, you can still land safely. Look up "autorotation".
HAOLE
If it ain't got wings, I ain't flyin' in it. It does... they just rotate.
HAOLE
I "feel" safer flying fixed. I would fly an autogyro it looks like fun. Plus those can take off in a very short runway.
wheezy
Those are neat. I was just watching mad max 2 and there is one of those in it. I was wondering if it was a real thing, doesnt seem to safe, but looks like a blast.
