V8 Beast
So I'm a big kid that never learned not to play ball in the house. I have a wall that stands out directly in front of my family room that has been abused (playing fetch, football, tag, blah blah). What would you suggest other than drywall... and me not acting like a 29 year old kid.. to strengthen the wall???

Guest Hal
Don't use a backing like plywood, you want the wall to breathe. You can try putting in a couple more studs which will create more support.

Take this l l l l l and make it this lXlXlXlXl ftw No need to cross them, you'll just add more joints that can fail. Studs should be 16" center-center, simply put more studs in to equal 4" center-center. You only need to add this into the area that sees the most activity. wnaplay1647545503
There are many products out nowadays that will hold up stronger than drywall. If you go to a hardware store, go to the panelling, and look at all the decorative 4x8 sheets they have. These can go up in a matter of minutes and there construction helps prevent little situations as you have described. Some construction adhesive and a caulk gun, and your done. Keep in mind, even a concrete wall can be damaged.

DaddyBuiltRacing
Stop throwing the ball so damn hard lol....or heres an idea, just remove wall completely and have even more space in home. It doesnt matter what you put up there its gonna take abuse from bouncing things off of it.
