Plane Crash in River

Very fortunate that no one was seriously injured, that pilot needs to get a medal!

+1 That pilot did an amazing job landing that plane in the river. The news said he was even able to walk the entire length of the plane twice to check that everyone was out before he got off the plane himself. Amazing!

^^^^ no kidding landing a plane with a dead stick, thats a test for him. excellant job. BUT, wouldn't it be some shit if the FO (first officer/ Co-Pilot) was the one that landed safely, and the captain is getting all the props. How pissed would you be.

In that situation, the 1st in command will be telling the copilot what to do and definitely not vice versa unless the pilot was unconscious.

Wall Street Journal article:

part way down the page is a video from the Coast Guard station on the Hudson River. It caught the last bit of the landing, and shows the Airbus coming in from the left side. You can see how very quickly people got out.

Kas Osterbuhr at K3 Resources put together this amazing 3D animation of the flight of US Airways 1549 from the moment brakes are released at LaGuardia to the moment the flight touches down in the Hudson River. It's epic. te_5eiyn0d0.jpg[via Wired]
