Kevin R.
Okay, cool and all, but I don't know how keen I'd be letting off a bug bomb like that near a place where I cook food. "Dad, why does my burger taste like Raid?" Was thinking the same thing. Bet they all died the next morning after delicious steaks.
GonneVille
The worst part is that a bee-keeper would be ecstatic to find a hive in such a nice, easy-to-get-to spot like that. BTW, that is actually a pretty small hive. Big hives can be easily four or five times that size. By the number of bees and the condition of the combs, I'd say it was a new hive. Too many bees for that small a hive, so it was probably a swarm that broke off from a large hive not more than a month or two earlier.
