1qwk767
Friend Lauren has a 93 Honda Accord automatic the scenario is the car will not start at all in park, she has to use the shift lock override feature to put the car in neutral and then start it and drive away. Several people have told her its a fuse I was told to take the shifter assembly apart look for a broken wire, because the shifter sends signal when the car is in park or neutral to allow the car to start so is it possible that the park signal is not getting through to the ecu to allow the car to start in park? AJ
sounds like a netural safety switch.
1qwk767
OK update, after looking at the car, it will start in park and neutral, but once the car is running it won't shift out of park. still neutral safety switch or something else? Cordell
Screwed up shift interlock, not sure how it works on that car. This is were I rely on AllData, but it's likely a fucked up switch on the brake pedal.

AJ
sounds either like the BTSI or brake lamp switch. don't know if honda has a fuse for the lock out or not. i would lean more towards the BTSI before the brake lamp switch. Guest Removed
those are a wierd setup..i had one that the tps was reading to high at idle, and the ecu would not let you shift it from park.
Zach1647545520
It may be the switch under the brake pedal. Does she have brake lights???
92dropgt
It may be the switch under the brake pedal. Does she have brake lights??? this is most likely going to be the cause, notorious problem.
