A Little Gun History Lesson

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent,

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent,

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent!

Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns! It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too! While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns.

The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it. Yet, you won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect ONLY the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of this history lesson.

With Guns.................We Are 'Citizens'. Without Them.........We Are 'Subjects'.

During W.W.II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED! Note: Admiral Yamamoto who crafted the attack on Pearl Harbor had attended Harvard University (1919-1921) and was Naval Attaché to the U.S. from 1925-28. Most of our Navy was destroyed at Pearl Harbor and our Army had been deprived of funding and was ill prepared to defend the country. It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up the Pearl Harbor attack with an invasion of the U. S. Mainland, his reply was that he had lived in the U.S. and knew that almost all households had guns.

If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all your friends! AND NEVER, NEVER, NEVER SURRENDER YOUR GUNS!!!

The amount of stupidity when it comes to guns in this country is unreal.

Just last night I had a friend try to argue that Canada has higher gun ownership per capita than the United States. He also asked why I need two AK-47s, a FAL and the rest of the guns I own. My reply was first, "The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." (thanks Thomas Jefferson). As he continued with ignorant comments, I tried to use a simple analogy for him. Why do you need a 125hp, 400lbs sportbike?

Of course he had no answer, but it went as far as saying if said bike were outlawed, he would give it up.

The pussification of America. Thomas Jefferson is rolling in his grave.

Ugh, fucking ignorance at its best. When i bought my Mossberg my sister was hesitant because her husband wants one. He's and educated mechanical engineer and father of 3 kids that lives in the suburbs of cincy, why would he need a gun. "Better to have a gun and not need it than need it and not have it" was always his answer.

You are still allowed to have guns in Australia btw

Australian Gun Laws...

"State laws govern the possession and use of firearms in Australia. These laws were largely aligned under the 1996 National Agreement on Fireams. Anyone wishing to possess or use a firearm must have a Firearms Licence and be over the age of 18 with some exceptions. Owners must have secure storage for their firearms.

Before a person can buy a firearm, they must obtain a Permit To Acquire. The first permit has a mandatory 28 day delay before it is first issued. In some states (e.g. Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales), this is waived for second and subsequent firearms of the same class. For each firearm a "Genuine Reason" must be given, relating to pest control, hunting, target shooting, or collecting. Self-defence is not accepted as a reason for issuing a licence.

Each firearm in Australia must be registered to the owner by serial number. Some states allow an owner to store or borrow another person's firearm of the same category."

Okay Mr. Wikipedia.

Make it look as candy-coated as possible, Australia has some of the most strict gun laws in the world, yet it's mostly considered a failed effort to decrease gun violence and violence in general.

Proof of that?

It is recorded in nearly any biographical document of him that he indeed lived and studied in the U.S. for a few years. It is also recorded in several places that he offered war advice to Japan when he went back to their Navy after Harvard. I believe his quote was something along the lines of:

You cannot invade mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass.

Hmm, guns protect the lives of your family and yourself. Sportbikes are purely recreational. Maybe a better analogy would have helped him understand? See this is part of why people dont understand why we need guns, if your reply is simply "just beause I can" then they arent going to understand. Now if you explain to them how an armed household is going to be able to defend itself during an invasion maybe that will help them grasp the idea a little better.

Also, two people that live in my home did not like when I bought my first gun and they were not comfortable with me having it here at first. After I explained its purpose and that it was purchased to protect us, they totally understand now and they have even began to consider purchasing one themselves.

That article pretty much says nothing has changed, making the effort to get rid of guns a waste of time.

But my point was that it wasn't an all out ban on everything, and after reading the article you posted makes me even more skeptical on those numbers saying things are worse now.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that it only disarms the law biding citizens and not a good idea.

I wasnt doubting that he studied here etc, just if he really didn't want to invade because of civilian firepower...but I guess its true
