kenny
I bought this motor for $500, after finding a bunch of loose bolts I decided I should pull the heads and pan and make sure everything checked out. I found it to have NA head gaskets, which would have lasted all of 20 seconds under boost as well as this... http://i37.tinypic.com/2vsohmw.jpg I thought it was odd when I pulled the plug and it was solid black... guessing he had something miswired or a bad coil back resulting in no spark. The cross hatching seems to look alright, but I can't decide if I should worry about the marks on the cylinder or not. http://i33.tinypic.com/2077wnl.jpg http://i33.tinypic.com/2mrxfux.jpg Keep in mind this is just a "beater" motor until I get the other one built. At this point I'm thinking I'll just toss the heads back on (with the correct head gaskets) and run it. He claims it only has 378 miles on it, and from the looks of it, he isn't lying. Still, dunno if I like those marks... Discuss.

kenny
That's what I wanted to hear. You don't happen to know what size C5 Z06 rotors are do you? Looking at options for brakes... going C5/C6 setup, dunno which yet, though.
Stimmel1647545512
The NA headgaskets were prob about 3 dollars cheaper...and to whomever was putting that motor together fuck it thats a pack of smokes hahaha but back on topic that cylinder looks fine as stated above no grooves that can be felt your good good luck with the build if you ever need an extra set of hands let me knowim usally bored as shit hence why im on cr at 316 am
kenny
I think the reason for the head gaskets was the stock ones are no longer made by Felpro. He probably wanted all Felpro gaskets since that's what they came with stock. Ohwell, gives me an excuse to buy RJC head gaskets. They're supposed to be rather awesome. excell
It's a beater LC2. Throw the heads back on and turn the boost up. Maybe it'll blast the sand from your vagina.

I think I'm going to have the heads ported while they're off... and it's screaming stuff a camshaft in me.
Scotty2Hotty
Are stroker kits popular on those motors? C5 Z06 rotors are 12.8" - Front 12.0"- Rear C6 Z51 rotors are 13.4"- Front 13.0" Rear
kenny
Yes, a lot of the TSM guys run strokers. My friends four door has a 250" stroker. I might find a 4.1 block and stroke that... 274" bitches.
schmuckingham
Run it, the marks will go away on the first crank. Who is going to do the heads?

I need to call my transmission builder and see if his guy is still doing Buick work. If so, probably him (Frank Parvin). Unless you've got someone local?
