2009 Cobalt SS Turbocharged in Progress

Good numbers. Know what kind of turbo that can be compared to? Hows traction?

Now you see the turbo blows boost into the exhaust housing which can cause wastegate to push open, which in turn creates less boost because all the boost is being lost through the wastegate which is internal. That can be solved by putting the car in reverse which causes the engine to spin backwards, and creating vacuum that will seal the wastegate shut for maximum boost...yo

Sound theory. I expect vids of you testing it with your car ASAP.

Nice work Brian, I knew the turbo Colbolts would be a LOT better then the S/C ones, but 370 WHP. But still FWD...:(

It really depends on the turbo. It is very impressive for the factory fueling system and exhaust though. A MKV GTI can not even dream of those numbers without a HPFP and most likely injectors.

that is a very impressive gain, do you now about how much his upgrades costed?

I believe his car was used for R&D. I imagine he did ok on the pricing. ;) The company designing the kit is out of Dayton. If I get the name of it again I will let you know.

Stock boost is variable. The ECU requests a torque and does everything it can to control to that torque. Different weather conditions will take more/less boost to reach that torque.

People have seen stock boost hit as high as 20 psi and as low as 14, but it can be tuned up to 23 psi (the limit of the stock MAP sensor). The GM "Stage II" kit comes with a new MAP sensor that allows you to run more pressure.

Those are nice numbers!

My buddy works with this guy and has been telling me about this car since he bought it. Its already accomplished some pretty impressive numbers and Im curious to see how much more it does with the downpipe and cutout. Kinda makes me want one.

thanks to all those who like my car. 24-25lbs of boost was more of a spike. we were limited to the factory maps. (23psi). so I was seeing some overboost codes and the car does 370 on 22-23psi. the car will be back at brians in about 2 weeks with map clamps pure meth running 7 gal/hr at 100 psi. looking for 27psi with no knock. the car will also have 3in downpipe with no cats and cutout. the stock exhaust is on the car, even the stock exhaust manifold. an adapter was made to bolt the turbo to the stock manifold.

Brian and myself did learn a lot with the car and the turbo size. its = to a gt3076r but should spool better because it has a new billet wheel from precision. here are some pics

Dave at http://www.dejonpowerhouse.com did all the work. go to the site my car is a superstar lmao.

Nice-Just want to point out a few things-

1) The turbo pictured is a standard 30r- not a billet wheel, unless you are referring to one of PTE's new models you will be putting on the car.

2) Why did you decide to go with a DSM Bolt on turbine? That housing is a bit more restrictive than your standard T3.

3) If possible (I know it looks tight) you will pick up some good power if you use a divorced waste gate dump-or merge it further down and not at such a sever angle.

Im not knocking you-new product development is always great-just giving some pointers.

1) I didn't see the turbo out of the car. but percision did state what I got was their new t31 series with gt30 power but faster spool due to their new billet comp. wheel. Dave confirmed that, that is what they sent sooooo.......

I guess I am not 100% sure that it had the wheel. but Dejon confirmed it did.

2)I believe this was done due to the lack of room and dave had all the dsm flanges on hand.

3) looking into going external gate down the road.

thanks for the input!!!!:D

To answer #2...

The outlet of the stock manifold is round so dave (Dejon) just used a weld elbow and 2 flanges to make an adaptor.
