Guest Removed Posted January 19, 2009 Report Share Posted January 19, 2009 well i remember reading the write up on painting that green camaro.. the first time they cleared it it fogged up or something, and it had to be redone! maybe it was a issue with them using waterbourne paints? i just dont want it in primer/flat, i have worked on some before and the dirty boy marks soak into the paint etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Clifford Automotive Posted January 19, 2009 Report Share Posted January 19, 2009 All of these car that you guys are talking about are not "flat" they are matte finished. Which is a semi-gloss clear. Lamborghini has put the line of mattes into production. Normally clear will fog if it was put on too heavy or the flash time was overly exceeded. On the waterbourne side. I started spraying waterbourne color coats about 5 years ago. And I must say waterbourne is awesome. Your pretty much cant fuck it up. From an up-keep standpoint flat paints are a nightmare to maintain on anything other than a show car that never sees any use. From what I understand you can't wax them so the paint is always unprotected, you can't polish them to fix scratches / swirls (from leaning over fenders to work on something), you're basically stuck with all wear and tear showing and without any means to protect it from the environments as well.
