We can pull out from everywhere, stay in our little USA bubble, not intervene or speak out about anything, and they would still come after us. It is our everyday way of living they hate. It is not just our foreign policy they are fighting back about. As Scott said, we are evil to them in our everyday lives. Do I know what the answer is? No. That's why I sell things for a living. Otherwise I would be in politics. But, to think if we just left them alone they would leave us alone is just pure ignorance of why they hate us. I lived in the middle east for almost 2 years, how about you? You're the ignorant one, I've talked face to face to these people. We are the foremost symbol of freedom in the entire world. So yes, they do hate you for being American and your way of life. The freedoms, your religion, all of it. Am I saying it is the foremost reason, not exactly, but it is a driving force. Being tied to Israel, they label us zionists aswell, and sympathizing with Jews. Read all you want to, but until you've experienced it, you are the ignorant one speaking from someone's view point or opinion. As for isolationism, I'm all for it, but if history repeats itself, we'll be like we were back during the WWII era. I believe it to be a great idea for the next 10 years or so, but being a world super power draws us into everyone else's bullshit. I think it's possible, but the likely hood is slim to none. When I was over from 03'-04' we didn't have an insurgent problem. I was in the Brigade responsible for Sadam's capture (no bullshit I have the operation red dawn coin. I was waste deep in shit water all night pulling an OP/Recon) 2nd tour in 05-06 we had the insurgency, and Al-Qaeda cells in operation. We knew this before we put our boots on ground in our AOR (Area Of Responsibility) Towards the end we smoked up quite a few insurgents not to mention a personal best of catching 7 Sudanese insurgents. The amount I got from one, deffinately set in stone these people need to be ended at all cost. I will say preception is what opinions are always formed upon, but it's obviously from one's view point. Obviously there really isn't a neutral media organization, nor do I believe there is a "good" organization. There's not enough out there that want to spread the truth, due to the fact most of the media is horribly liberal and would dismiss these people for speaking out of their ass. I will say you were correct on Bin Laden. We did create an enemy after the Russian Afghan war, but in the same right we weren't the only one's that kicked him off. His home country of Saudi Arabia was the one to first light his fire by allowing our military on Saudi ground during Desert Sheild and Desert Storm. I would hate that bombing country as well. We've had it so nice to not seen many deadly bombs dropped in our country. Over there...its a daily thing. It is the conflicts that make a scenario like that possible. Again, there's not a chance in hell you'll convince me that a 15yr Canadian Citizen who happens to be from the middle east is just back in his homeland skipping rocks and is then accidentally accused of attacking our troops. If it smells like shit....it's very likely shit. I don't suppose the German people needed to "know" either... I'm not even suggesting that Gitmo is equivalent, but that is the kind of thing that happens when citizens decide not to take responsibility for overseeing the actions of their government.
