zeitgeist57
...knows how you drive! http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/newsflash/index.ssf?/base/news-70/1232647799250050.xml&storylist=penn The only scary thing of this story is the part about the truck's "black box" knowing how fast he was going, whether he was braking, etc...I remember hearing something about this being standard in all vehicles after 2005 or something like that. Is it true? Or, can people get driving information just from the OBD computer?
unfunnyryan
May have been recorded by onstar. I've heard of it recording all that kind of data before and saving it when theres an accident.

AJ
the "Black Box" is the air bag SDM (sensing diagnostic module) it records all that stuff. throttle, brake, speed, seat belts, steering wheel position if a sensor is there. we have insurance adjusters come out from time to time with there lap top and down load them. this is why you need to replace the SDM if your air bags go off. it locks all that data in a read only memory just for this use. OnStar can't record all that stuff because it happens so fast.
