Crossle
Does anyone on here use them in their homes on a regular basis just because it's interesting? I have been reading up on them and I understand that it is perfectly legal to have one in your home, but a amateur radio permit may be needed to transport one in your car, or have one on in the car. I am more interested to listen in while I am at home. I wouldn't think to use one on the road for the wrong reasons.... Do you need a permit in Ohio to listen to one in the car? I just want to have an idea of what the laws say so that I don't get screwed on something I didn't know and get some feedback on how people like them. Patrick
Sean, I have a handheld to borrow if you'd like, it's a trunking scanner, too. Perfectly legal if you don't use it to commit a crime.

Akula
I used to have a police/fire scanner. It is public information, you just aren't able to listen to the tac freqs.
dragknee66
You can still program in tac freq. more stuff happens on tac channels then on regular channels as well. Heavy traffic for a certain event is always taken to tac to free the main channel.
