Mitch
GF's 2005 Honda Pilot's factory nav system shit out on her. Stealership wants to replace the whole thing for 2600+ labor. It powers on, the buttons beside the screen are lit but the LCD never comes on. I found out how to enter the systems diagnostics screen by jumpering a connector but haven't had a chance to attempt this. Anyone with knowledge on a way to attempt to reset the unit or anything like that? Also what about radio codes, will I have to re enter them if I reset the system? Thanks guys, I will provide more info as needed.

ODoyle
I think there is a 4 or 5 digit code you have to enter when you remove the battery or disconnect the unit. Its was on a card in the same packet of the owners manual when new. If you dont have it the dealer can tell you the code with your VIN or the S/N of the radio. Are you getting any flicker in the screen at all?
Mitch
nothing its just blank. I want to try to see if I can get the diagnostics screen to show up first.
staywide8
I can get the code for you easy enough. Just pm me number on back of unit.
staywide8
Turn the ignition switch ON (II), select ''OK'' on the disclaimer screen, then press and hold the buttons in this order: (1) MENU button, (2) MAP/GUIDE button, (3) CANCEL button, and keep them pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds. Try that and let me know
Mitch
Thanks staywide8, I will try that and report back. It never boots to a disclaimer screen though, it just stays blank. You can hear it when she presses the touch screen though and she still gets directions to somewhere unknown.

SinisterSS
display unit is fine, its the navi unit itself. I've done a lot of MDX's with this issue
Mitch
So do you think this is something we need to send the unit into alpine usa for? considering it is no longer under honda warranty? I read good things about alpines service, even when not covered under warranty.

staywide8
They have a post on hondas network that says repair is something like 150 with 150 in shipping if out of warranty.
