DaddyBuiltRacing
10/24/09: Boredom struck today!! I got tired of the block sitting on the engine stand with no head on it. I had the headstuds and headgasket laying around, just didn't have the free time to put it together until today. Just need timing belt tensioner and sprocket that goes behind crank pulley in order to make it a complete rotating assembly Arp studs going in: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1898.jpg Cometic Headgasket on: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1897.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1896.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1899.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1900.jpg Head finally on the block: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1901.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1903.jpg Mmm look at those Intake ports: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1902.jpg Valve cover on the motor: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1904.jpg Finally all bolted up!!: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1906.jpg Oh yeah figured i'd toss in a couple pictures of the the mine and the gf's motors: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1910.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_1911.jpg

integranator
Looks great man, about time some other people start doing what needs to be done in the honda game. Look forward to seein ya out this summer. edit: just make sure that you drop a little oil in the cylinders if you don't plan on starting that motor anytime soon. I waited, didn't put oil on the walls, my sleeves got rust on em, had to have the block re-bored to get rid of the pitting.

Hes been spraying WD40 and a little bit of oil down it...he has also been rotating it as well to keep all this from happening. DaddyBuiltRacing
11/10/09: Feeling like this project has been a little neglected lately I decided to spend some cash. Today I went to a slowmotion and picked up some goodies!! Those goodies included a Edelbrock Victor X intake manifold, 2 Aeromotive fuel filters and a Hondata intake manifold gasket. Lets just say I got everything for less then $500 bucks out the door. Intake manifold will be here tomorrow so pics of it will be posted then. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2017.jpg Edited November 24, 2009 by DaddyBuiltRacing
DaddyBuiltRacing
11/11/09: Manifold came in today!! Started taking stuff off the old stock manifold and swapped it over to the new one. Also bolted up my 68mm throttle body, then put the manifold on my motor. Starting to actually look like a motor now Edelbrock Victor X: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2018.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2019.jpg Old vs New: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2020.jpg 68mm TB bolted to the Edelbrock: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2021.jpg Manifold/TB bolted to the motor: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2022.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2025.jpg

DaddyBuiltRacing
11/19/09: A buddy had a turbo integra, he sold it...somehow another buddy of mine ended up with the car due to it being wrecked. He is parting it out and has a couple things I want from it. One of those things was a C&R radiator w SPAL fan. I went ahead and picked it up off him http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2038.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2039.jpg Edited November 24, 2009 by DaddyBuiltRacing

DaddyBuiltRacing
11/30/09: Ordered some parts today from Honda that I was missing. Those parts included: Valve Cover Gasket Vtec Solenoid Base Gasket Vtec Solenoid Gasket Spark Plug Tube Grommets After that I went to a buddies garage and shaved my valve cover. Didn't turn out too bad This is what it looked like to begin with: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2057.jpg Hit it with the grinder and got it down to this: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2058.jpg After that some hand sanding came into effect and it ended up looking like this: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2059.jpg Once I was done with that I decided while I am at it, might as well get it tapped for a catch can. Called up Jegs to see if they had any -10an fittings at the closest store. Guy on the phone said they had 6 of em in stock so I headed that way. Once I got there I was informed they only had 2 in stock...not a big deal I guess since the guy working ordered me 2 more that will be here tomorrow. Gonna try and get them welded in tomorrow so I can send the cover out to the powder coater later this week. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2060.jpg Will have pics up tomorrow as the parts from Honda come in. Might also goto Acura and pick up some more parts for the motor
DaddyBuiltRacing
12/1/09: Well the other 2 AN fittings arrived today. The parts from Honda got delayed a day I guess Went and dropped my valve cover and fittings off to local shop to have them welded in. Hopefully they are done with it tomorrow or Thursday so I can take it to be powder coated this week. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2061.jpg
DaddyBuiltRacing
12/2/09: Well the gaskets I ordered from Honda arrived today. I will be placing another order for more parts from them in the next week or so. Hopefully local welder calls today and lets me know that my valve cover has been finished http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2063.jpg
DaddyBuiltRacing
12/3/09: Well the motor is one step closer to being a fully rotating assembly. Picked up my timing belt tensioner and spring. Also called and ordered some random bolts from Honda that I needed as well as the crank pulley guide plates. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2068.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2069.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2070.jpg

DaddyBuiltRacing
Oh yeah another update today for ya: 12/4/09: Came home and was bored so I started putting the new gaskets on the motor. Pulled the vtec solenoid and put both the top and rear gasket on. After that the shop welding my valve cover called to tell me it was done. Went and picked that up and headed to powder coater. Picked out the color for my valve cover, should be done middle of next week. If it turns out good I will be taking my complete suspension into them to have it all done as well as random brackets and such. Heres some pics Got the old gasket pulled off: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2073.jpg New one put in: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2074.jpg Top part of solenoid pulled off, gasket removed and new one put in: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2075.jpg Put it all back together and re-bolted it to the motor: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2076.jpg Heres the front of the valve cover with the bungs tapped and welded in: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2077.jpg And a shot of the back bungs: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2078.jpg

DaddyBuiltRacing
12/6/09: Its always nice having buddies that either work at parts stores or have warranties on parts at part stores lol. Picked up the 1 missing piece from my motor that makes it fully rotating and actually complete as far as the engine goes...My water pump!! Best part is it was FREE!! Bout damn time I get a free part after all the free parts the gf has gotten for her crx lol. Just gotta find some bolts to put it on with tomorrow and it will be finished. Who knows might just goto Honda and buy new bolts lol http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2082.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/100_2081.jpg
DaddyBuiltRacing
12/8/09: Got to talking to a friend of mine last night about my motor and he asked me a question that I had totally over looked. He asked "if I had taken out the oil plug on the head, since my head came off an LS/Vtec". Of course I hadn't taken that out lmfao. So today me and my dad ventured up to a friends shop and tried taking it out. First we tried an allen wrench, that resulted in the allen wrench twisting at the head lol. Then we tried a Snap On socket with allen key fitting on the end, that also twisted at the head. So we finally said enough with that and just put it on the drill press and drilled it out. Should've done that to begin with haha. Also placed another order with Honda for some odds and end shit I need Here is the plug that was in the head: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/oilplug.jpg Now the head on the drill press being worked on: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/takingplugout.jpg The fitting is out!!: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p81/alittlelessordinary/Car%20Pics/4dr%20GSR/fittingout.jpg
