EDIT: I do like those cars, but some of the others mentioned in this thread make me blushface more. I do think it's funny that no one has mentioned the Veyron yet...

I would take The Shelby Ultimate Aero over any! Worlds Fastest Production Car!

American Made too.

Specs:

That looks to have a lot of Lamborghini influence in exterior design.

The only sexy car thus far in this thread is the CCX. The rest are half-assed or ugly.

The Koenigsegg sexy?

This?

That's just hideous. The windshield peak is the highest point on the car. The sailpanels look bloated. I hate how the windshield is as wide in profile at the top as the side windows. And tons of other little things make it look like a fat, poorly proportioned kid's drawing of a car. And what's worse is that this ugly, malformed exercise in design can't even claim superior aerodynamics as an excuse.

Honestly, it looks like a slipper or flip-flop. I know that's a pic of a CCR, but the basic proportions are the same on the CCX.

Well, maybe not the Aston.

Damned right. The Aston design is "right". It looks good, has proportions that are just right, and IMO is exactly what comes to mind when I think of a performance car.

The Koenigsegg is a superior design BECAUSE it is simple, not in spite of it. The CCX has outstanding aerodynamics, but poor downforce, be more specific in your critique. ;)

-The Zonda is a rice-boys study-hall sketch, too off-the-wall, too complicated, tries too hard.

-The Shelby is a half-assed rip-off of other designers success, and it's cross-eyed. Hotwheels show more attention to detail.

-The Noble isn't bad, really, but again it's copying off of other cars and has a poor build quality.

-The Saleen is a rip of of a McLarren, with more gills. Riceboy complex again.

-The Gumbert was designed by engineers, skinning the car was clearly an after thought.

-The Aston is an elegant sports car, NOT a supercar.

-The Koenigsegg is an elegant supercar.

Didn't know we were posting for looks only.. if I wanted a car to sit and stare at only, I'll take a bat.

Looks only, I'll take a this:

2 superchargers thank you bye bye. Engineering is art, dawg.

I disagree. There are simpler designs that look better. Your last post is prime example of that.

This doesn't make sense; it's like saying a TV has a great picture, but poor color reproduction. This is a supercar we're talking about. Saying "Great Aero but poor downforce" is fine if this were a Prius, but downforce is essential to a performance vehicle. Lack of downforce = poor aerodynamic design since aerodynamics are what generate downforce.

Maybe they thought they were designing a plane?

-The Zonda is a rice-boys study-hall sketch, too off-the-wall, too complicated, tries too hard.

It's a track car. I'll be sure to let Lola, Porsche, and other LeMans Prototype designers that they're rice-boys.

-The Koenigsegg is an elegant supercar.

I think we'll just disagree on this point.

... or a car intended to go 240+mph. The protrusions of downforce generators also spoil the stylistic lines that they had developed. Also; Yes, aerodynamicists are designing planes. Do you know why the Subaru WRC Wing looks like it does? ;)

If the Zonda R is a track car, then remove it from the list. What was the last Lola you saw driving on the street?

My Pagani critique was meant for the standard issue Zonda, not just the R. Hell, the Zonda's side profile is guilty of the same stuff that you pinned on the CCX. :p

BTW, the most recent iteration of the CCX renders your aero criticism obsolete:

I think the bare Carbon fiber is hideous.

Funny, the Veyron goes as fast, doesn't look as hideous, and manages to generate downforce.

The protrusions of downforce generators also spoil the stylistic lines that they had developed.

So they felt it was a good idea to have a tail-happy supercar because a wing would make it less pretty? (in their eyes)

Also; Yes, aerodynamicists are designing planes. Do you know why the Subaru WRC Wing looks like it does? ;)

To generate Downforce and keep the car straight when it is in the air.

Are we going to start arguing semantics? Planes fly upwards, cars are pressed downwards. I think it's pretty clear what I meant, let's not start trying to confuse the issue by splitting hairs.

Didn't know we were talking just street cars. Then Lamborghini Reventon FTMFW. I brought up Lola and other Lemans Prototype designers as an example of people who KNOW aero using what you called 'ricey' design on a full-bodied car.

Not really.

http://www.carsandtuning.org/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/pagani-zonda.jpg

Highest point is behind the windshield apex, adn the glass doesn't continue around to compete with the side windows for space.

Sail panels are windows and have consistent lines so they don't look bloated.

One other huge complaint I have about the CCX is the beltline between the front and rear wheels. On the Zonda, it's pinched downwards to give the front and rear fenders clear definition. Whereas the CCX is nearly flat across, making it look like a fat brick.

The Pagani flows, the Koenigsegg looks cobbled together.

BTW, the most recent iteration of the CCX renders your aero criticism obsolete:

Thanks to the Stig. If Top Gear hadn't flung one off the Test Track, I bet the CCXR wouldn't have a wing.

When you say "doesn't look as hideous," do you mean "looks like a syphilis-infected cock?" The Veyron also weighs nearly twice as much as the Koenigseggisegoeniggg. The Veyron, in my mind, is just a gimmick car meant to give stiffies to little boys and men with bottomless pockets.
