Guest tbutera2112 Posted May 12, 2009 Report Share Posted May 12, 2009 ok this was my dads quad...supposedly the motor took a shit, but he passed away before i really had a chance to figure out what was detemined to be wrong with it....the shop that had it when he passed told me that it was a bolt or something in the motor is what it sounded like...hell idk so, im completely tearing it down and im going to go through the engine...i may put a big bore kit on it, but im not sure if i feel like spending the money on that since ive got the mustang going plans are to go through it and freshen it up and get it out in the mud again so i have a toy to play with after its running i plan to do some hacking and fab work on it to make it stick out a little bit more...i noticed after taking the plastics off that it looks much better without them...so im going to do some trimming on the plastics....going to ditch the mud guards on the front and back, and shape the fenders sort of like the sports quads, but im getting a straight tail on it also....then im hacking the front fender away and leaving just the center section... going to mount a circular headlight in the middle where the flat square is...im trying to find someone who can fab this all up in photoshop for me...but i will be making it something unique...theyre ugly from the get-go...the racks are going to be removed, but ill be leaving the grill guard no before pics, and no during pics of the teardown...i got pics today after getting the motor pulled...took the motor to robs where im gonna start going through it...and the rest of the stuff is piled up at my gfs house under a tarp....ive never really done a project like this, so im still learning...ive broken a few parts so far (nothing major) and i purchased a factory repair manual...my gfs dad is helping out some too, hes kinda new at it too though...and rob will be there if i need help with the engine...but im going to try and tackle as much of this as i can by myself heres a few pics from tonight after i got the motor out all torn up http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/SaleenSS90/0511091832.jpg motor being taken to robs http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/SaleenSS90/0511091832a.jpg my wonderful work area http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/SaleenSS90/0511091832b.jpg my pile of stuff http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/SaleenSS90/0511091836.jpg and here she rests http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/SaleenSS90/0511091838.jpg once i find someone whose good at photoshop, ill post up an idea of what ill be doing to it cosmetically....heres what it kinda looked like before i took it apart http://www.tradebit.com/usr/nutsandbolts/pub/9002/5621478_Grizzly600.jpg Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
