thorne
Look this may be fucking retarded but I'm tossing it out there. I think I'm missing some logistics but I'm not sure. what would it take to create a nonprofit who's sole reason in life would be to help prevent street racing by renting out runways or even trying to get sponsors to buy a piece of land not for from columbus to race at. I've seen drag races at the air port before. Like legit ones. What does it take to own a piece of land and have a area that you could race at your own risk. Or even a club. You join or by donation your a member and get access to a "Park" that has some area where people can do like 8th miles or something. This sounds stupid so I start by flaming my self Your a idiot it would never work.

Snowflake
Dont we sign something at the track that says they are not responsible if we fuck up and wreck. Like a waiver?
Draco-REX
to much of a insurance risk for any body to want to do it Not for the SCCA or any dragway, or any other racing organization. It comes down to cost. It'd probably be a couple hundred per day. I think having a place available at night for racing would help. It's too bad it'd be impractical to get a hold of a stretch a mile or more long. Then people could do 40 rolls and the like..

Buteo
to much of a insurance risk for any body to want to do it Totally agree. Even if you have all the partakers sign an agreement they could still come back and find a reason to sue. No reason to put your neck on the line even if there was a contract in place. Science Abuse
Could you get around that with a good Legal binding agreement ? Those are pretty good when it comes to damaged property, but if some one gets hurt or otherwise gets a big enough bug up their ass, they can challenge that in court and cause all sorts of trouble. The LAPD acctually organized something like that back in the 70's or 80's. Huge success, so of course the citizens bitched and had the program stopped. 88lx5oh
me, fowler, and some other guys from back home used to go up to an old airstrip this guy owned that wasnt in use anymore (except for his ultralite and stuff) he let us race there. hell some people from CR even made it down for it before the guy saw it was getting popular and then actually made it into a paid event with a tree and everythign.. then thats when it got lame. it was more fun when it was just alot of friends hangin out, droppin hands, and racing. and i loved doing big burnouts there lol

Akula
you just said the intial intention of the NHRA. They used runways to get people off the street, then they went corporate.

Rob1647545496
i did my senior paper and my college paper on street racing and i looked into the airstrip thing. there are shit tons and most of the small ones don't even allow night landings so when it gets dark they are useless. lets stop being wastefull selfish americans and put this to good use. ohio has 727 airports. there is even one called j-em Farms 3 miles north of columbus Privately owned Owner: John E. Rob1647545496
The biggest problem with allowing us to do this is whos going to clean up the mess when someone breaks no one wants to land a plane on an oily runway.

Rob1647545496
lets get this it's only $57,000 http://www.truckntrailer.com/clients/71/photos/80588/1.jpg no wait i want this one, i'll flat black that bitch and make it shoot flames. http://images.wisconsinhistory.org/700008080003/0808000063-l.jpg ...maybe if we all chip in. and there in lies the problem racing on the street is free anything else we try to do is not. our only other option is do what some other countries and i think california used to do not sure if they still do, and close of a section of road and let us do our thing but when that happens you get the same problem you have before and it gets to crowded. to many people not enough time just makes the people find somewhere else to do it.
