zeitgeist57
In preparing for my new van, I wanted to get rid of the horrible, cheap-looking plastic bumper treatment (with painted lower body panels) by coating the entire van from the molding down with some sort of protectant. Bed liner would probably work, but I've heard of the black color fading/chalking after awhile...any truth to that? I'd like to paint the lower panels/front+rear bumpers to give it a two-tone finish, and as black as possible (match the factory tinted windows and black gloss plastic pillar treatment). Any DIY advice would be appreciated. Attached a couple of pics to show what I'm somewhat looking for... http://www.weatherwarrior.net/chaser/vehicle/caravan_web.jpg http://www.weatherwarrior.net/chaser/vehicle/HPIM1086web.jpg
Cordell
POR (paint over rust) sticks to absoluty everything, that might work. My buddy has just painted the plastic lower bumper peice off of his Silverado with Herculiner, but not sure how long that'll last.

zeitgeist57
i had good luck with krylon plastic paint...used it on a dirtbike and it held up well even through riding I'm looking for more of a textured finish, though. While the bumpers are unpainted plastic, the lower door panels and rockers are currently body-color, without any cladding. Through the coating, I want to give the base model van more of a Pontiac Montana, SUV-like visual impact. Hey...I'm trying to make a minivan as SUV-cool as I can.
