Slimpsy1647545505
Sooo, a few weeks ago I bought a 68 nova off a guy on here (byhi) and a couple days later the project began. It's a stock 307 (had a guy swear it was a 350 (even after we pulled it), but after running the casting numbers it is confirmed to be the stock 307...i cried a little, but whatever...it's just a cruiser). The car was covered in primer and heavily bondo'd in the quarters. But after sanding and sanding on it . . . the quarters are straight and salvageable. . atleast for now. I will probably replace then next year just to have a completely rock solid car though. The frame is incredible on this car and the underbody only needed minor repair. Right now it's all sanded down and straight/smooth as an arrow. We pulled the motor out and freshened it up with a chevy orange paint job, some vintage mickey thompson valve covers, a holley systemax kit and holley 4bbl 650 carb. Going on the car will be a 2" cowl hood . . and it's getting painted iroc red with black racing stripes. Here's some progress pics. . . should be done within a week or so and ready for the road! When I got her: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c256/byhi/100_0748_00.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c256/byhi/100_0752_00.jpg And now the progress. . . car is all sanded and ready for paint. . . jams are painted and engine bay and sidewalls are painted http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/15/l_e7f27bcf957d44d88cd2272ca99daae4.jpg http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/29/l_e4065a6fd30f4c37a52a4fdba5ccfda8.jpg http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/104/l_efbf63e5308e430d883c0d0265f08347.jpg http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/79/l_026eb9d5c7b5400ca8434e6b09b947d7.jpg And the engine, looking all sexy in chevy orange: http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/58/l_160daff47e934587bf7010dd0e5c5c96.jpg http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/22/l_9e1dd7c3a96b4a9fa1a69133a4edfd22.jpg

Slimpsy1647545505
I'm still up in the air about the 307. It's kinda cool cause it's originality and a great motor for cruising without sucking in too much gas. Really the clean-up and upgrade process wasn't a huge deal. . I can take everything off the 307 and put on a 350 block, so this will probably happen once car is garaged over the winter. We'll see how she does next week when everything is put back in. Slimpsy1647545505
Finally got the 2" cowl hood in and all the red is down. Got a ratchet shifter matched to the PG (which I will probably be changing over to a th350) Has taken a bit longer than expected but people get busy. Should have it ready for presentation by this Friday. Hopefully get ot bring it to a few meet-ups before the bitter winter begins.

Slimpsy1647545505
Decided to go with an orange instead of red. It feels more classic muscle now to me. Here's the hood finished before clear coat with the orange we used and the stripes are actually painted on. We're doing the clear coat tomorrow and hopefully getting the engine back in Monday and she'll be alive! http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/9/l_b51880f99aa84af7a74c5cb64706c149.jpg http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/18/l_7912a268170c464fa658388f4680fdf7.jpg Hey hey, matches the engine..LoL http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/58/l_160daff47e934587bf7010dd0e5c5c96.jpg Edited October 18, 2009 by Slimpsy

Slimpsy1647545505
painting the rest of the car now too? or doing it sometime later? Already re-shot it all that color Just waiting for it all to be cleared and to pick up Mondayish and I'll get some good pics. It may be Hemi orange, I will get the code when I pick it up. The original color was going to be iroc red, but once he did the jams I didn't like the way it looked. . not classic muscle enough.
