Are there any soldering Ninjas in the Dublin area? I need to solder 4 small capacitors to the power board on my Samsung. I don't have a soldering gun, btw. I can't take watching television/gaming in standard def much longer:mad:

Thanks

Peace

I think I could do it, I just dont have a gun. Are the soldering tips interchangeable?

Depends on your iron. The "pencil" style irons sold by Radio Shack generally are, and some also allow you to remove not just the tip, but also the heating element, allowing you to swap different elements in when you need different amounts of heat. Larger "gun" style irons can sometimes swap tips, but are usually too hot for this sort of work. I'd also suggest using a bulb-style desoldering vacuum. The spring-loaded things are great at sucking, but very difficult to keep steady when you hit that trigger.

Did the same thing to a Scepter LCD months back..

Do you have the board removed already? How small are the caps? shouldnt be that hard of a job.

I removed the board right after I read up on the symptoms, to see if the capacitors were bulging (found 4). The caps are 1000uf's. They're slightly bigger in physical size than the factory ones, but they will fit.
