Huh, interesting. Seems like with that payload (over a ton?) it should have more power. Kinda like a better ridgeline, that doesn't get 15 mpg and rev to 4k all the time. Good work VW. Best of all, no coil packs to fail ;)

Minus the hillbilly roll-bar fad that died decades ago, I don't mind it. Still reminds me of a Honda Ridgeline (which is far from a Truck IMO), but TDi + Manual is quite bad ass. I see a few pitfalls in it, but overall not too bad for VW.

 

IMO, the whole retail sales fad of owning these types of trucks in masses is about a decade too late too though.

Agreed. The bed is just a large glove box, but for a semi-SUV/Mini-Truck, I like the concept, especially with a Turbo Diesel to back it up. If it's over 30MPG and availible in 4WD/AWD, they may have a small winner to beat up on that abortion known as the Honda Ridgeline.
