Mensan
What makes the FD RX7 more of a man's car than the Miata? Is it the lack of a droptop or is it the additional power that can be made from one (which would be a false assumption)? If there were a convertible FD available would it reduce the amount of appeal for the fans on this site or improve it? http://images.geekazoids.net/convfda.jpg http://images.geekazoids.net/convfdb.jpg Is a Miata with an LS1 and a turbo making 500WHP still a chicks car from the outside? Now think about your answer and compare the following cars: Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman. Which (if either) of those cars is a woman more likely to drive (in your mind) and why? They are the same car save for a fixed roof. I believe I know what the answer is, but I would like to see what everyone else has to say. Mensan
Miata with an LS1 and a turbo = tits LOL fair enough, but would you stand next to it in a parking lot and say "Yeah, THIS ONE'S mine"?
Buck531
LOL fair enough, but would you stand next to it in a parking lot and say "Yeah, THIS ONE'S mine"? I would. I'd rather have that than a Porche Boxter with 220 HP .
Fubar231
x2 to the Miata thing. Id drive a ls swapped boosted miata over that ugly ass rx7, and those gay ass porchse's. Imagine peoples faces when you start up your miata and it sounds like a god damn drag car. (Long tubes + slp loudmouth ftw)

Mattsv8
I would say the miata is a chicks car but then again all the buzzing a rotary does may make a good vibrator. so its a tie. if there were no v8s left in the world id take the turbod supercharger. Smokey
May I ask Eli did you perhaps get into an argument with a Cayman owner? I'll try to be a good sport and answer your questions though. While both the miata and and Rx7 were both built to not have many frills and be "pure sports cars" I think that since the Miata was built to be more of a "fun" car it gives the perception that it more feminine. I do believe that the convertible contributes to this general perception. In the end I believe the general public's perception of all of the vehicles in question is biased/incorrect. Specifically to the Miata and the Boxster I believe they wrongly accuse them of being cute girly cars because they are convertibles and meant to be fun (which I guess shouldn't be an option for a man?). Both cars are quite capable track cars...my only concern there is that I'm not a big fan of tracking convertibles, but to each their own. RyM3rC
The miata is girly because it doesn't have enough power to get into manly shenanigans (burnouts, slides, etc). More power makes anything more manly, even a VW beetle. I'd probably drive either mazda if it were given to me, but I'm not too impressed with their interiors. I'd happily drive either Porsche. Yeah, the boxsters are a little girly (because they're cute like a miata) but they sound sexy and I hear they are wonderful to drive. The cayman is more manly because it has more power and it's a hardtop. Women will always be more likely to drive convertibles all else equal, because they like the ability to have their hair blowing in the wind (even if it would mess up their hair). I'd venture it has to do with them being more glamorous, and since most women are naturally insecure and have self-esteem issues they want to be more glamorous to feel better about themselves. Hardtops are rigid and unforgiving like the will of soviet Russia!
zeitgeist57
We talked about this before. I would own a Miata LSx first, second would be a Porsche Boxster S and I would be proud of it. The last car out of the group I would buy is the Cayman: if I wanted a hardtop track car, I can get the RX-7 to beat the piss out of the Cayman. When the Cayman came out I was living in FL, and I really could not believe how many people said that the Cayman is so much better than the Boxster when it is the exact same car and chassis!!! Srsly, don't try to tell me otherwise because I've done extensive research into this car...
Main3s
IMO a "girly" car falls in one or more of the following categories… Looks cute not aggressive. Example: VW Beetle vs Charger. More “fashion” then power. Example: V6 Mustang vs Cobra or V8 Mustang Fits a stereotype. Example: Mitsubishi Eclipse vs Trans Am/ Camaro No Power. Example: Porsche Boxter vs Cayman And for the record anything with an LSX swap is not a chick car

wnaplay1647545503
Overall tiny size of the miata makes it a chick car in my mind. Although I have seen a few I would rock. The rarety of the amount of fd's you see running around also lends itself to making them a guys car.
