94TanRanger
I have seen these on a couple CPD cars lately and tonight, saw some beat up older cavailer rolling thru every parking lot in my appt complex. Wonder if its a new way to find cars to tow for expired tags or repo cars, it was just werid seeing it on a POS car crusing thru the parking lot. http://www.elsagna.com/mobile.htm

unfunnyryan
Faster way to generate revenue...... Its not like its going to assist in catching people speeding or parking violations.. Just finding people with expired tags, warrants, or stolen cars which are generally bad things.

Yeah, this is something that can do some good, and is taking a proactive approach to crime fighting/prevention. That's a GOOD thing.

GonneVille
Yeah, sure, it's fine when you set it up like this for spot checks. Thing is, there's a town in Oregon that that made the news because it has these cameras set up on every road that crosses their city limits. That was a year or two back, how many places do you think are considering following their lead? Gee, let's see, how do we feel about a private company hired by the government using cameras to track license plate numbers as we travel? Especially with Coleman wanting to setup Columbus like fucking London with cameras covering every fucking square inch of the city?

The read on coming plates and run though a LEADS database to check for Stolen vehicles, warrants for registered owner, expired, suspended or no drivers license. There are alot of stolen cars floating around and this is a great way to find cars faster that are dumped in apartment complexs and alleys

They'll drive up and down crowded roads reading everyone's plate as they drive by at 30mph, kinda neat yet kinda scary. The first application seem's ok, but when you start mounting them everywhere it will definitly feel like we're living in an ant farm. Richard Cranium
If Ohio is putting money into this kind of tech, then they'll never get rid of front plates.
