Sunday, February 7, 2010 - Late last night, Columbus Firefighters were operating at a basement fire in a dwelling on the city’s northeast side, when a CFD Lieutenant in the basement collapsed. Firefighters immediately removed the fire officer from the basement and initiated life-saving measures at the scene and was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he is in critical, but stable condition. The 60-year-old Lieutenant from Station 16, is a 35-year veteran of the department who suffered cardiac arrest at the fire scene. The Lieutenant’s station was first on the scene of the fire and he was supervising a crew in the basement of the dwelling. truckin Posted February 7, 2010 Report Share Posted February 7, 2010 We in the CFD Family are very lucky, this was a close call and luckly we had members in the right place at the right time to assist a fellow brother in a time of distress. The posistive outcome of his condition is due to well trained FF's/Medics on scene and the proper manpower in place to assist. Please keep him and the Family in your thoughts and prayers.
