stupid mistakes

So we've all been there....wasted money on cars, purchased something we shouldn't have, sold something we should have kept.

Got an email tonight from an old pic / sale add for my Accord. As much as I can bitch about the car, I should have never sold it. Looked at a copy of the title I kept in a scrap book.

Personally, I loved it as a DD. Clean, classy interior and while I didn't love the exterior, it wasn't all bad. I made it my own with little things here in there. Suspension was off a TL-S which really helped it handle great.

Kick my own ass

So what's your biggest screw up with a car ?

going turbo

What route would you take if you could do it again?

For me it would be wasting time and money on FWD cars. Shoulda just saved up and got a rwd v8 back in the day.

I would have just waited and enjoyed my car. School has always been first, car second. When I first bought my car I could pop off 12.8's. Then I demodded to buy the turbo kit - ran into problems, went back N/A while I gathered more parts & money. Damn car would/could not break a 13.5 when running it n/a again. Get the turbo together and more shit breaks when I think it's done.

Honestly I would have just put all my money towards school and graduated faster then try to do both. My car will run right this year and I will graduate too but it has been nearly a 3 year battle ( for the car) that nearly made me leave the scene.

In chronological order:

1. I don't know how I justified selling my MINT 94 SHO. It was the second most rare color (moonlight blue), was modded with every thing available for them at the time sans F/I (built transmission, tokico/eibach, sway bars, bushings, upgraded 96 SHO brakes, engine mods etc etc) and it was also in excellent condition. It was in tip top shape, and I got BOTTOM dollar for it. The trans cost me $2,200 about 6 months prior, and I only got $2,800 for it. Try to find me a mint, modded Gen 2 SHO for 2800.

2. Not buying my dads 2001 stg 2 S4 after I sold my SHO. He bought it out after his lease, then decided to sell it after he pulled the trigger on his 2005 S4. I drove it around as mine for about 2 weeks and loved it. I got a speeding ticket in it, and found myself trying to race everybody on the road (I was 20). I told my dad it was too fast for me and that I would get into trouble...........so I ended up pissing away my money on a short 2 year lease of my 2006 A4 (loved it though, but a horrible financial decision). Don't know what I was thinking, but you live and learn.

I bought this car for honestly damn near nothing. Me and everyone I knew at the time beat the living hell out of this car for two weeks. Then I decided to sell it at the Ford swap meet. The car sold in less than 15 minutes with three different groups of people pushing and throwing haymakers over it. I realized at that moment even though I made great money on the car, that I should have either asked more or kept the car.

Trading in my 96 Dodge Avanger 2 months before it was paid off. It was a great car and never gave me any issues. I should have held onto it seeing as I ony got $900 on trade in and there wasn't a damn thing wrong with it I could have waited for another deal on my GTP or something else. :( Youth...

Buying my last 2000 S4 in Phoenix sight unseen from Chicago for 7800.00 with 68k on it. It was a pile and I put 12,500 into it to make it right, also it was a salvage title. After putting the 12grand + into it another turbo blew out on me after 1000 miles due to the guy who rebuilt them did it wrong. I sold the car on ebay and only got 5500 out of it.
