EXACTLY! So why do they think they are above the law then. 90% of the officers ive come in contact with have this idea that they are... and it usually ends up being bad for us.

Yup, and im sure they do more than just drive while driving, not unlike some 16 y/o girl in daddy's SUV, who more-likely-than-not gets into just as many of those minor traffic incidents theyre speaking of...

That worst thing about cop hitting you is you cant recover personal damages from the city. Cop hits you and you get hurt, tough luck, they wont even fix your car your insurance has to cover it. Same thing applies to buses and any other governmental vehicles.

you may not be able to go after the city but what about the officer couldn't you personaly go after them in civil court.

Not really. I have had a few of these cases at work. Unless you could prove the city employee caused the collision on purpose they are shielded from civil liability by law. One of the law people can chime in a little more.

haha yeah i had one tell me that for doing like 80 on 71. what a fuckin load of bullshit. there were no curves in the road, its a straight shot. a god damn trained monkey could drive at 80mph in a straight line.
