FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU....

This hopefully explains the crappy fuel economy and wierd emission error codes I got when the engine heated up! Please see the Garage Sale...I need a cheap C4 Corvette exhaust solution...

Cracked on BOTH manifolds, and the cracks wrap around from the front to the back of the pipe!

Is it headers and tune time?

Rob, they're not cast manifolds...they are stupid, broken, pieces of crap that don't make my car run properly. :)

I'd get "real" headers if my budget for this car could afford it. Also, the fact it's a Corvette apparently makes it difficult to get a good deal on used headers...more LT1 header options for F-bodies. Everytime used headers come up on Corvette Forum, they get snatched up with the quickness.

These painted Hooker Shorties aren't too terrible price-wise, though certainly not cheap at $400.

I think Pacesetter makes a set for cheaper, but I'm not sure the quality is there. Looks like anything stainless is $650+.

there are a few cast manifolds on ebay that fit your car.

you could also take them over to columbus col-weld and have them repaired they specialize in welding cast iron there

I'll check eBay when I'm off of work. Col-Weld was really helpful, but he indicated that more than one crack on a manifold could be bad news down the road...let alone around $300 to clean, weld, and grind.

  • 3 weeks later...

Does anyone know how much modification LT1 F-Body headers would have on my C4 Corvette? I'm assuming enough to justify unique headers on the Corvette side for hundreds more...

Otherwise, I'm getting to the point where I will go through any custom work needed to make some longtubes for a Firebird/Camaro work on my car...

EDIT: This looks shady...http://columbus.craigslist.org/pts/1695081587.html

"Also Fits First Generation LT1"

has round exhaust ports. We have the D shaped exhaust port. He's probably talking about the old LT-1 motors from the 70s.

Is your goal to make max power? Or you just want the car back on the road sounding and running better? I'd probably bite the bullet and get a set of shorty headers that will bolt up to the stock exhaust and be done with it. The cost sucks, but really what choices do you have? Since they all cost in the $500 - $600 range you may as well at least get stainless steal.
