BlackMess
Finally got the black mess up and running and took the lady out for some ice cream. I'm sitting at a redlight and I heard a loud bang and see something shoot across the street. It has a 24mm head and gets torqued to 240ft/lb. Please name that bolt and explain how the hell it came off! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/hiitsmejimmy/downsize.jpg

It is torque to yield and should be repaced, never re-used.
AJ
you need to get a pin kit. its a fixture that holds a drill bit so you can drill the crank and pulley to put a roll pin in it. search LS1tech.com
BlackMess
How would pinning the crank prevent the bolt from falling out, the crank pulley didnt jump off just the bolt???
AJ
the pulley spun on the crank and loosened the bolt. happens alot, ask antwan.

LS_Sonoma
You can get the crank and the balancer keyed during a rebuild also. Kinda pricey though. IMO
BlackMess
Motor was apart for the head/cam install prior to going in the car, that would have been the time to key it along with installing a new bolt. O well I had no idea it wasn't keyed that's why I paid a shop to do it so I woulnd't be broke down in a pizza hut parking lot. Live and learn. Wheres the most reputable place to buy a kit to key that crank??

Clifford Automotive
It happens. I was driving through grove city when I ran over my crank pulley. Then I thought back to 2 days prior when I thought I hit a piece of metal on the freeway.

Skinner
However, the Post you quoted DOES have merit... KillJoy Only if a service was offered/charged and not done. At no point was that ever stated only assumed. In either case he's beating a dead horse this isn't the first post he has made about the shop. At this point if he is still having issues that should be between him and the shop.
