GSXRAntwon
I'm looking at various Chevy-GMC Diesel trucks right now for my business. Tell me what years are best? I heard 03 and newer. Id just like some info as far as are they good, are they bad, what breaks usually on them etc...... ALSO, don't tell me to get a Dodge or FORD as I'm not interested. Cordell
If you're not going to do anything but use them for work I don't think I'd shy away from any of them, just get the newest/lowest mileage you can.

John Bruh
2001-2004.5 Trucks had the LB7 Motor 5-spd auto. These motor's had injector issues. GM did warranty them to 200k miles though. 2004.5-2005- LLY motor 340hp 5-spd auto. Had an overheating issue (which was more talk than really an issue with most trucks, but the LBZ mouth piece in and issue fixed) 2006-2007.5- LBZ motor 365hp 6-spd auto. Try to get a Pre-emissions truck (early 07 and down) because with the particular filters and emissions bullshit it kill the mileage. Motors cracked pistons at higher hp and tq (if it's turned up). LBZ is the best motor you can get in stock form. As well as the trucks. And you get the 6spd tranny. 06+ trucks came with tow mirrors. http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/general-discussion/61741-read-first-before-posting-please.html Pitman arm's are weak. The allison's hate EFI live or any high hp programmer. I have a good deal on a 2006 LBZ right now. Crew cab, short bed, white in color. 128k miles. Runs great! 15.50 1/4 lol! $24,950 http://www2.diamondlot.com/dls/inventory/standard/detailxsl.aspx?id=1483795&lang=en I do have a couple d-max's right now. http://www.thecarcompanyonline.com
John Bruh
the newer motors are the LMM trucks and LMN. IDK how much you want to spend but their 30K plus. They have DPF's and get worse mileage. But you can delete the DPF's.
BDHG940
+1 on a pre 07, my dads trucks get shitty gas mileage city. Its alright with a trailer and highway but any other case, they just down the gas
SICKNESS22
My dad has an 06 Crew Cab Duramax Dually, Everyone says thats the year they got things right, he get's around 12-13mpg pulling a 11,000lb 32ft. enclosed trailer and 16-17 running around town. It has plenty of power pulling that trailer. As said above, i'd try to get an 06 or early 07 pre-missions.

Im going to look at an 03 Silverado Duramax with 149xxx this weekend. Im mainly using it to pull a 14ft single axle trailer with mowers and mulch on it for my landscape company, as well as plowing in winter. I WISH I could afford the white one you have, its a beautiful truck! Also is the Allison in the 03's ok? Any problems? Anything I should do to it to make it withstand the abuse? John Bruh
The lb7 is a good motor. Just check how the motor starts smoke on start up, hesitation, duramaxs start fast so if it takes a while to spin the motor that's not normal. Overall should make u a good truck. Straight pipe it and efi fuel mileage tune and it will last. Don't turn it up or ur tranny will hate life.
